Best place in Austin. I really love this place! The family that owns and runs the cafe are so nice! They make the best mexican food I have ever had. I especially love the flan! :) All I ever want to do is go eat at is this place lol..seriously! This cafe is by far one of a kind!

great food served with free smiles!. We tried this on a whim. It is a small quaint place but I loved the smiley beings that produced the food.

Usually I order vegetarian but the options were limited so I tried a chicken dish with spinach and mushrooms. Delicious!

Awesome Authentic Mexican. At first we were skeptical, it's a small restaurant in a little strip mall. But the food was outstanding! We enjoyed everything we tried on the buffet. The service was fantastic and you can tell they really care that you're enjoying your food and your time there. We were super impressed!

el faro is a needle in a haystack! More like a diamond!. A friend of mine told me a while back that el faro had the best breakfast tacos ever. I was skeptical, but decided to give it a shot. To make a long story short... I now eat breakfast there every weekend I can. They make every taco individually just the way you like it, and words can not describe how they are able to make something so ordinary so GREAT!

Eventually I graduated up to their lunch/dinner cuisine... and was upset with myself for waiting so long. They have the best carne guisada I have found. It is delicious. The first time I went for a weekday lunch they had a buffet set up. I was immediately skeptical, but me fears were completely unwarranted. The food was PERFECT. I was eating AUTHENTIC mexican food (some I wasn't even sure what it was) that was hot, fresh, and tasted UNBELIEVEABLE. I plan my days so that I can eat at el faro, and once you try it you will too.

Also, a fact that can not be overstated and should not be understated; the atmosphere is great. It is a family run place. Husband, wife, and kids (with some great help) that are always smiling and friendly.

the best mexican food restaurant. love El Faro so much, it motivated me to write my first Yelp review! Short version: a family-run, honest, and absolute delicious mexican restaurant you can visit over and over!

Not to be confused with average Mexican food, the dishes here are simply phenomenal. Enchiladas Mole to die for, bad-ass migas, and amazing tacos (the Pastor [Pork] are my favorite) are just but a few dishes I frequently order.

Get the Mexican Coffee and migas on the weekend for instant hangover relief. Don Jose and his family make us feel like we're at home every time we come over. Don Jose tells me he uses fresh ingredients, because, "I have to eat the food, too!"

Bonus: You can order El Faro food while drinking next door at the bar!

Bonus 2: They have a lunch buffet on Wednesday and Thursday which is actually really good! There is also a dinner buffet on Friday evenings.

BEST Mexican Food in Austin. El Faro truly offers the BEST Mexican food restaurant in Austin! I've been going here regularly for a couple years now and I've never had anything I didn't like. They starting doing an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet on Friday evenings that is really awesome! I've introduced many friends to this great little Mexican restaurant on Friday's that have become regulars too. It's a family run business that does a great job on service and food, especially their Tres Leches (homemade daily) and my personal favorite dish, Pollo Piki Piki. Although it's a small place, it is still a great atmosphere for family, friends, and well worth every penny and hour I've spent there! I hope to continue my regular visits to El Faro for many years to come!

Pozole at the buffet line?. Yes, it is that authentic....my family and I just relocated from a border town and I could not believe how awful some mexican restaurants are. We had tried so many we were about to give up. Tired and disilusioned we decided to try one more....and boy were we glad we did! El Faro is owned by a charismatic family who strives to serve everything with a smile.

THe best mexican food in central texas. WOW!!!! this is a little mexican spot at wells branch!! This restaurant is owned by a really nice family. The food is great and the salsas are awesome, my favorite dish is POLLO PIKI PIKI. It has this chipotle sauce with mushrooms; it's really good!!!ya'll should go chek it out.

PS: the tres leches cake is awesome
