Small intimate atmosphere. Pay w TabbedOut on smartphone!. I ordered the Cochinita (slow roasted pork meal) and loved it! Los Pinos is the only restaurant in the Lake Travis area that supports TabbedOut, a service that lets you pay your bill with your smartphone, and never have to pull out your credit card.. I loved receiving a receipt via email.
Best breakfast and Lunch!. My husband introduced me to this restaurant 2 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. If you like breakfast tacos you have to try their migas breakfast tacos. They are the best breakfast tacos I have found in Austin. Los Pinos also has some of the best home made salsa and all of their lunch entrees are very good and reasonably priced. If you are in the Lakeway area, I would highly recommend you stop in for a taste.
GREAT LUNCH, HORRIBLE DINNER. I eat lunch there regularly and have enjoyed the food but for some reason their dinners always are disappointing. The last two times I tried dinner I was served miniscule portions, wilted lettuce, undercooked meat and pinto beans, even the margaritas were bad and restrooms deplorable. I'm guessing they put a priority on their busy lunches and don't care about dinner. On both occassions management and wait staff were non-responsive when approached. There are too many other good places to eat to continue giving them my business.
Highly recommended!! This place rocks!. If you haven't checked this mexican food place then you're definitely missing out. From the salsa to the HOMEMADE TORTILLAS to the outrageous sopapillas, this place rules. They charge $1 for each extra tortilla so be aware. Nothing on the menu was over $10. Highly recommended!
Mizu Sushi and Prime ROCKS!. Those who have enjoyed Mizu's Sushi for years in Lakeway have hidden this little gem; Sushi that rivals the very best in town (and a price to match). But now, they have moved into their huge new restaurant and lounge with awe inspiring views of of the hill country, across from Lake Travis High school on 620, and have become one of the best restaurants in Austin, and that is saying a LOT. The sushi is amazing, but what really surprised me was the extensive list of asian and fusion and even European dishes that the kitchen cranks out. DON"T MISS THIS PLACE!
Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant. Los Pinos is by far one of the best mexican restaurants in town and I LOVE mexican food. It's definitely tex-mex and they have the BEST chile rellenos (stuffed poblano peppers) that I have had. The location is a bit remote (off of Hudson Bend Road) but it's worth the drive - thankfully, I live near by! Their salsa rocks and I am VERY picky about salsa. Their mexican martinis are excellent as well, great charro beans, excellent corn tortillas, and guacamole is FANTASTIC. I have watched this restaurant become VERY busy over the past couple of years, so if you try to go on a Friday or Saturday night, go early. Otherwise, stick with a week night. They're also open for lunch. The prices are VERY good...most of the entrees are less than $10's. I highly recommend Los Pinos!
