Cheddars Chicken Fried Steak. I just came from Cheddars on 183 in Austin. Was looking forward to my chicken fried steak, but it turned outto be chicken fried batter..meat was almost non existant and there was a huge piece of something hard that nearly tore out my partial. service was fine..Megan took good care of us. Won't order that again..I say just stick to the soup and salad menu.

Always A Solid Choice. I really enjoy Cheddar's and almost always leave feeling content (if not stuffed). It's affordable, delicious, and it's the home of the Cookie Monster. Or, as copyright infringement forced them to change it to, the Monster Cookie. That's always my favorite part of going here: a giant, fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie in a skillet, topped with vanilla ice cream, which is in turn covered in chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It sounds like I'm being paid to write this, but seriously, it's just that good. I've yet to find a better way to satisfy my sweet tooth.

The service is (almost) always good, and they've got a great atmosphere going. The dim lighting and pleasant hum of conversation is very relaxing. I usually go there later at night, around eight or nine o'clock, so I rarely have to wait to be seated. I can't speak much for their regular dinner hours, but the few times I have been around that time have been quite busy.

Their food is good. That's about it. Nothing too fantastic, but if you're not looking to spend too much and you want a good meal, you'll find it there.
