Excellent place to go jumping – i dont know about these other yuppie idoits comments but i and my 5 friends had a great time at capitol skydiving 4 of my friends it was there first time and they did all tandum jumps. The jump master eric was very nice and did a very good job at instructing everyone on what to do the other employe's where very helpfull and friendly and the videos they shot and edited where excellent and everyone had fun and we have all gone back many times.
Worst. Day. Ever. Avoid at all costs! Trust me. – I looked over the other reviews of Capitol Skydiving on this site before going there last Saturday. Reading the other negative one posted here, I thought "ha, it can't really be all that bad. I'll take my chances." Man, was I wrong. The exact same thing happened to us. I went as a group of 24 or so skydivers for tandem jumping. The manager told us clearly in advance that we would have the place reserved just for us for the day. When we all showed up at 11:00 am on Saturday, it was a totally different story. They let all kinds of smaller groups come and go before us all day, with really bad excuses like "we didn't know this many of you were coming." After waiting for 8 hours in the miserable heat, only about half of us got to go. They really do care more about the fun jumpers than the tandem people. Terrible customer service, crappy facilities, poorly run. Other places can't be this bad. Go somewhere else!
Worst Experience Ever. Terrible Service and Organizational Skills. – If you go in a big group, then you're lucky to even jump on your reserved date. We had a party of 17 people and the manager overbooked and could not handle the load. He blamed it all on us, stating we told him that only 10 people were coming when I called two days prior and reminded him that there were 17 maybe 20 people showing up. My other friend also reminded him a month in advance when we reserved. This man doesn't seem to write things down and forgets things frequently. We made a reservation and he let other people and smaller groups go ahead of us that came in later. He told us that those other people had come in earlier in the week and weren't able to jump because of weather issues. When we asked those same people, they denied those claims made by the manager and we were told by those same people that it was the first time they came and were not there earlier in the week.
He flat out lied to us. He knew he can keep a large group, like us, there all day and we wouldn't leave. Smaller groups will leave if they see a long wait so he let them go ahead of us to increase his business for the day. I find that very disappointing that some business would cheat their customers like that.
On top of that, their plane is extremely small. You can only fit two jumpers in at a time. The plane looks quite old and very shaking. They only have one old plane for tandem jumpers. The other brand new plane, they keep only for experienced "fun" jumpers." They care more about the "fun" jumpers because they pay more to jump and come more often.
My entire group came in at 11:30 AM and we were there until sundown at around 8 PM and even then 10 of us didn't get to jump. We were going to walk out at multiple times but they kept insuring us that we would all be able to jump by days end. Well that really didn't happen now did it.
If you're planning on jumping, then I would suggest you go somewhere else, even if you have to drive to another city. This place is just not worth it.
A great place to bring a group of friends and jump out of airplanes! – I went to Capitol Skydiving this past weekend for my brothers 30th birthday with about 8 other people and we had an amazing time! The staff is awesome! They are all VERY experienced and they do a wonderful job making you feel comfortable with diving. I got the video for an additional cost and I would recommend it to everyone who is taking their first jump or jump want the lasting memory of the whole experience. The videographer is amazing and hilarious, you will end up watching the video over and over again. If you have a group of 10 you get a discount and they also throw in a roll of film if you buy the video.
