Bad Service+Average Food+High Price=Disappointed Customer. For the price, I can't think of a place that I would recommend less. This was my first time going and I wanted to be impressed.... 3 Forks fell way below my expectations.
Dissappointed with IIIForks.
I just wanted to provide some feedback from my recent experience at IIIForks. I had the opportunity to dine at IIIForks for the first time this Saturday February 12, 2011. I was part of a large
party 15 couples (30 people) with a reservation for 8:30 pm. The reservation were made 1 month in advance. There were many issues that arouse throughout the night.
First one of the members of my party had an accident and spilled a glass of wine. I consider III Forks to be a 5 star restaurant, however at this 5 star restaurant instead of the wait staff replacing the linen they covered the spill with napkins and placed another table cloth on top of the napkins and the spill area and left us to eat in the mess.
Second when the bread was delivered to our table the outside of the bread was crisp however the inside of the loaves at the large table were all frozen. Never, did we receive an apology for the frozen loaves. When I inquired with the server about the frozen loaves, she simply stated, I’ll get you more, removing all the loaves from the table (about 5-6 loaves). She did replace the loaves however, I just expected more since we were at an establishment which I would consider “fine dining”.
Third from the time that we were seated to the time that our food was delivered, it took
1½ hours. (Seated at 8:30 food delivered at 10:02pm) Our server indicated that the menu was condensed since it was Valentines Day weekend. With this in mind you would have thought that the menu was less complicated making our food delivery quicker. Our group was on a schedule as we had arranged for transportation by limo to and from our home, therefore we ordered our meal within 15 min of being seated. Since our food arrived at 10:02 and we had scheduled transportation we had to leave by 10:30 pm. We requested our check immediately after delivery of our food, leaving very little time to enjoy our meals.
My last complaint would be that after delivery of the food no one checked to see how everything was at our tables. I ordered a 12 oz filet mignon cooked medium. I received a medium-well cooked steak. My seated neighbor to the left of me received my medium cooked steak. I had to call a server over to notify then of the mix-up. My steak was replaced, however because of our time constraints I was not able to enjoy my steak at all.
I do understand that we were a large group and because of our large group, delays can be expected however, we made reservations for 30 and with that in mind the kitchen should have been prepared to handle a large group. At no time considering all of the issues that we had did a manger come out to speak to our tables. Each of the couples spent on average $125.00. At 15 couples that is approximately $1875.00 that my group spent at IIIForks. Overall the experience was terrible and I believe that sentiment was felt by all of the couples in my party that dined at IIForks that evening. I sent an email to IIIForks to advise of our experience their response back essentially was they were sorry come back again and they would do better next time. I would not dare return to receive the same terrible service at my expense. No thank you!…
III Forks, austin. We used to frequent this restaurant often (esp when Curtis was still there)...we met some friends this past Saturday and were shocked at how "downhill" the food and service has gone. It took extra long to get a drink at the bar, then when they were going to seat us (reservations had been made for over 4 days), he starts to put us in a booth by the bar. We all said no and he obviously irritated said well it IS going to be another booth though. Waitress was incompetent...we had to flag her down for more drinks all nite, they were out of a very common wine we ordered, salads came--no salt and pepper offered, we had to ask for bread, don't know if they changed vendors for their meats but they are NOT the quality they were when they first opened up thru a year ago. Totally disappointing-won't return--we'll do Perry's or Flemings or Ruth Chris.....which ALL outshine this place. There's an overall attitude of we don't really care if you dine here or if you have a good experience.…
unsatisfactory service and food.
I feel compelled to write this review after a horrible experience at the Three Forks restaurant in July when my family celebrated my daughter's 22nd birthday. The evening was less than satisfactory.
First, when we first ordered drinks, I found that my Spicy Bloody Mary was bland, at best. I had asked the waiter if there was some way they could spice up the drink a bit. To my surprise, when he returned my drink, it indeed was the same drink to which some horseradish had been added (While it has not occurred often, any other time in my life that I have returned an unsatisfactory drink, the bartender has made a new one). The salads and soup arrived without a glitch, but bread was never brought to the table (which is typical at the Three Forks Restaurant every other time we have gone there). Then came the main course. I ordered a medium rare filet. When my steak arrived, it was medium well done. I asked the waiter if there was some way he could fix the problem, and he promptly went to th ekitched to reorder my steak, then returned to remove the overcooked steak from my plate. Sometime, later, another waiter returned to remove my plate and served me a new steak. He asked me to cut into the center of the steak to check it. To my surprise, the second steak was no better than the first! I stated that it was not medium rare. He simply stood there staring at me, and finally asked if I wanted him to take it back...By this point, everyone else had finished their meals, so I told him not to bother. Everyone seated at the table expressed amazement that the waiter, upon seeing that the steak was still overcook, had not immediately removed the plate rather than standing there staring at me as if it was my fault that the steak was not cooked properly.
Later in the meal, we ordered dessert. I had specifically asked the waiter at that time if there was a way he could put a candle on top of my daugther's dessert as we were celebrating her birthday. He assured me he would. When he returned with the desserts, he proceeded to place my guests bread pudding in front of me, and gave my dessert to my guest. We switched plates ourselves. As for the birthday candle- we never received one! I can assure you that whether we have eaten at a fine dining restaurant like Eddie V's or Ruth's Chris, or a more economical restaurant like Macaroni Grille, the restaurants have always gone out of their way to acknowledge a birthday.
So, in summary: from start to finish the meal was a disappointment: no bread until I asked for it, a bland Bloody Mary, an overcooked steak that was still overcooked on the second try and wait staff who couldn't keep orders straight or provide service when food and drink were improperly prepared, and finally failing to remember to bring a birthday candle...not what I expected from a "fine dining" establishment.
WHAT IS WORSE- I wrote a letter to Curtis Osmand, the Branch Manager at the Three Forks, to inform him of our less than satisfactory experience. I just received a letter from Danny Payne, the Proprietor, basically telling me that people usually don't complain about their experience at the Three Forks and thus, he is sorry...No gift card, no extended apology.... The rhetoric of this letter makes it seem as though it is somehow our fault that our experience was not up to par because no one else complains about this restaurant.
We used to come to the Three Forks all the time- NOT ANYMORE.…
Wonderful Steak and Crabcakes. Comfortable surroundings, live music heard from the bar, excellent service. We started off with a large plate of fun onion rings and an order of beef croustades-great. The house salad was enjoyed but I ordered the wedge-loved the blue cheese. We enjoyed great steaks and the crab cake was the best I have had in a long time. Our party ordered filets, Oscar-crab topped and veal. The meals were served with potatoes and sugar snapped peas-yum and we ordered a fabulous blue cheese and garlic sauce that is to die for that topped our steaks. They took a complimentary photo of our family and printed it out for us. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and a surprise round of complimentary after dinner drinks appeared. Had a fabulous ice cream sandwich dessert with port wine soaked cherries. Other desserts enjoyed were a mandarin orange cake and chocolate cake. It was a wonderful evening. The staff was so nice, warm and accommodating. I would return to celebrate another event and highly recommend this restaurant to all. Ask for Megan as your server. She is wonderful.…
