comment to the last review. ok lady i get how some people do not like smoke or smoking bars but i guess you have never been to spotlight before. 2 yrs ago new owners took over and spotlight has improved by millions. yes it is still smokey but they have add 6 more fans than there was before, so image it back then. second if you notice there is noooooo way to open windows, spotlight is not a house, its a bar, windows do not open in bars.

i was there that night of the "american killer" guy. if you would have opened yours eyes there was about 6 blacks shirts that said "staff" written on them that was trying to settle that man down. The "staff" was making sure the other man and his group made it out to their car safely before allowing the "american killer" guy out. Also, i do not know how many bars you have attended where "staff" member jump a DRUNK customer to get them to calm down. that causes a fight or way worse.(this is not down town) ask anyone, spotlight have improved in everyway. they weed out people that do not need to be there and take care of the ones that do. also 4 yrs ago there was a fight everynight. spotlight is being taken care of and the "staff" members make sure their customers are taken care of. there is only so much people can do. everything should get a second chance.

Too smokey to sing.. I get it. It is a karaoke bar. Some people have to be in a "good", "happy place", just to get up the courage to sing. Not a problem but for heavens sake....how is anyone expected to sing through all the smoke. Buy some air cleaners, open some doors or windows. Our lungs and eyes were burning. To top it all off, one drunk patron decided he was going to shout "American killer" to some other guest...for some odd reason and the STAFF (bouncers) did not escort him out IMMEDIATELY. Fortunately our husbands had the foresight to see that there was the potential for a fight or altercation and promptly escorted us out to safety before the situation had any sort of a chance to get out of hand. This place needs to consider the majority of their patrons over the poor behavior of one low-life, loud mouth, drunk. Guess we'll have to try another karaoke bar next time.

"rlw1228", am shocked that you did not comment on the lack of Valet services. I mean, if you were in a wheel chair I'd understand your lack of ability to go to the bar as its kind of high up. But I am sure that you are so used to being tended to in such a fashion that your every need is taken care for you. Perhaps the Bartender did not realise that you are royalty and please forgive them for not having the trumpet players introduce your arrival on the red carpet. Its fricking Cedar Park, not fourth street - just be a man and go and order yourself a drink and stop being a sally jesse. Perhaps you and your wife would be better suited by going to church.

Give Spotlight another look. I'm writing in response to the person who visited Spotlight for the first (and only time) on 12/17/08. Since you were new to Spotlight you should have opened your mouth and asked the "bartender" what the procedure is. During the week there is no wait staff so you, therefore, have to go to the bar and order your own drinks. There is wait staff only on Friday and Saturday nights. Now I do think he should have realized that you apparently did not know this and should have given you the benefit of the doubt and said something. I suggest that you give it another try, or not.

Poor wait staff. My wife and I went to check out this place last night got there about 7:45 pm walked in and first impression was OK. clean, inviting, small. There were only 5 women in the place, they were at the bar having drinks, and as we were having a seat at a table the only staff person there was throwing ash tray's down on the tables, and he looked at us and said, "I'll be with yall in a minute." in a somewhat , I really don't want to be here, manner. Well thats the last encounter we had from him in the 20 minutes we stayed waiting for him to return for a drink order. He found it more important to eat his supper behind the bar, than to wait on us. Now we are'nt ugly obnoxious people, we were dressed nice, there was no reason for him to ignore us. So any way, we left and went to Shooters next door and spent our money their and had a great time.

Needless to say we will not be returning to the spotlight, It did not shine this night.

Nice Folks, limited song selection, smoke filled room. I've been to the Spotlight Karoake place about 6 times. While they have added a few more songs to their list, it is still very limited. The sound is pretty good and the waitstaff attentive. What limits my stay there to an hour or so is that on Friday or Saturday its like one big cigarette smoke filled room and its hard to breath for a non smoker. I've been in many a smokers bar and had nowhere near the problem as I have had there. Wish they would install ceiling fans or filter or make it non smoking like the Common Interest. One other thing I noticed is the crowd barely acknowledges the singers even with the prodding from the KJ.
