Great food and service – Love this place. My husband and I come here all the time. Homemade flour tortillas are awesome. Full breakfast menu with tons of migas and breakfast taco choices. Excellent service.
Authentic Mexican Food – I have to compliment the best and freshest Mexican ingredients in Austin. The food was priced right and the portions are very generous. I would highly recommend to all my friends and anyone who wants authentic Mexican not Tex-Mex food. Homemade tortillas, fresh salsa is brought to your table to start the meal. I recommend the Chicken Tacos. They were so big I couldnt finish them all.
Very unsanitary restaurant – I've been a very loyal Casa Garcias goer over the last few years I've lived here which is why I am sad to say my going days are over. While I never found anything too appealing about the restaurant (atmosphere, food, service), it serves its purpose-ok food, ok price, ok location. Kinda like a lot of places here in town. I digress. What sealed the deal for me was my last experience which was comical for lack of a better word. My drink had a fly in it, these things happen I know. No big. My plate had undercooked chicken in it and hair in the beans, again these things happen I know. While at the bar a staffmember from the kitchen, not sure if they were a cook or busser, removed ice from the bin with his bare hands, the very same ice that was probably in our drinks!! Again, these things happen, I know. BUT, what did it for me was the lack of effort from the management to remedy the errors. The manager bought my margarita and that was it. I wasn't looking for this but for some acknowledgement that mistakes were made and they'd like the opportunity for a second chance and for us to return. I don't need a free drink, I need management to care about what goes wrong as well as what goes right. We left to catch our movie at the alamo and what happened next was the icing in the cake. The dumpster used for disposal by the restaurant was wide open and no kidding, 50 birds were climbing in and out feeding on garbage. DISGUSTING! When we returned our cars as well as countless others were covered in bird s*it!! Funny I know, but not worth the laugh again. Get your act together Casa Garcia's or make room for someone who will.
RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! – I used to be a faithful customer of Casa G's however, the last time I was there will be the LAST. Not only was the hostess completely rude, the waitress was too. People that came in after my friends and I, not only ordered but received their food before we even were given the chance to order. They never brought us our check either.
Not bad!! – I'm from a city near the border, so I have grown up on Mexican food. Sometimes my order is wrong (one time I ordered beef...but got chicken...), but the food is pretty decent. Their tortillas are not as good as my hometown's but when they really DO make them fresh, they are good! After some bad plates of food, I finally found the best thing to get there: the chicken fajita burrito with verde sauce! MMM! It's the only reason I go back!
UNBELIEVABLE breakfast tacos, I will defenetly be there agian tomarrow – I stopped by this morning for the first time to try some breakfast and found myself in heaven when I tried the breakfast taco in a unbelievable home made flour tortila. They where hot, fluffy and inside was a generous portion of egg, bacon, cheese and I even tried the nopales and eggs for the first time. When I recieved my order the server suggested a special smooth, green hot sauce that was kept in the kitchen that added the perfect spicy taste.
A spacious family dining area and a quiet bar combine filling Mexican food dishes and inexpensive drink prices together at this south side eatery. – In Short
Family style authentic Mexican food has taken a stand in a location that has had its fair share of tenants through the years. Serving everything from cabrito to ribeyes shows they are serious about pleasing all members of the family. Hamburgers and chicken fried steak round out the lunch menu while dozens of breakfast dishes like migas, huevos rancheros and pancakes line the morning set of choices. Specialty drinks like Mexican lemonade made with Limon and Topochico mineral water are a favorite with the regulars.
Prejudiced? – My son and I walked into this restaurant tonight and were totally ignored. Nobody asked if we wanted to be put on the list, nobody would even speak to us so we could ask them. Perhaps it was my son's black clothing and leather jacket? After 15 minutes of being completely overlooked, we walked out. We will not go back to this place.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant – Casa Garcia has the best of everything we go to a Mexican restaurant to find. We love the chips and queso, the drinks are good and reasonable, the fajitas are terrific, but best of all are the tortilla soup and shrimp caldo!
My new happy hour hangout! – Casa Garcias has everything in line from the shrimp enchiladas to the frozen margaritas. Other great menu items include the tortilla soup which is FULL of chicken, cheese, and avocado slices. The white enchiladas are also great. You really cannot go wrong, regardless of what you order, although I wouldnt recommend the lemonade, which I found a bit watery. The service is friendly and excellent and the atmosphere is one of a quaint Mexican town. Even if you go just for the chips and salsa and a few drinks, you will fall in love.
