Official Dog Heaven has been located, and it is here, in Austin, Texas. Low waters, wooded little pathways, and a happy leash-free spirit characterize Red Bud, which sits just in between West Lake and Tarrytown.

We do 4-5 workdays a year. They last a couple of hours and focus on projects to improve the park for the enjoyment of everyone.
See you at the park!
Worth a trip but don't expect too much..
Red Bud Isle is probably worth a trip if you have a dog you can trust off-leash, especially if it likes to swim. The "island" was less of an island than I thought it would be (land wasn't very far away) but still the scenery and rock formations were beautiful. My dog had a lot of fun running around, swimming, and socializing, and it was a nice change of pace for me to walk the 1-mile "trail" that circles the island. However, parking did take a while to find. I had to stake out the full parking lot for about 5 mins before someone finally left. Also... there's a lot of dog po op. People really need to be more responsible with their dogs. Parts of the isle are okay, but parts of it really reek.
You can swim with your pet if you wish, but I don't know if I'd trust the water. It might be tainted from dogdoo, and I bet there's a lot of snakes, even though I didn't see any.
Nice for a good stroll with your pooch, though!
