Dr. Islam was the absolute worst doctor
I've ever seen. Her compassion for others was nonexistent, her diagnosis wrong, and her lack of manners unbelievable. After she gave me the wrong diagnosis I began crying and she just stood there staring at me and when she began speaking again her tone was very mocking and rude. I've never felt so disrespected in the presence of a doctor. Dr. Islam never apologized for the miss diagnosis she was still incredibly rude when she called to correct herself three days later. She must have a lot of built up hostility from her life because even working in customer service I've never been so stunned by the behavior of an individual. I could write a novel on how dissatisfied I am with my appointment, but I'll just leave it at I DO NOT recommend her to anyone.
Everyone else in the office was charming though, so maybe if you're set on this office just don't schedule with Dr. Islam
Over 65 need not apply!.
I was impressed with most of the reviews for West Lake Family Practice; it's near my home, so I called for an appointment. The first question I was asked was 'What is your insurance?" When I answered Medicare, I was very promptly put down. "We don't take Medicare patients.'
As far as I know, everyone ages - what will the people in this place do when they reach 65?
What goes around, comes around. Compassion? I don't think so.
You'll find it is getting harder and harder to find independent family practice doctors that take Medicare. That is because it takes the ecomonmies of a large group to stay in business with (low paying) Medicare.
Second to None.
I have been a patient at Westlake family practice for apx. 3 years and in January of 2008 I was seen by Ginger Bane FNP,C because my Doctor, Eunice Chen had moved to China. Over the past 14 months I have seen Ginger several times and been very pleased with her and the care she provides. She is an excellent listener, friendly and always seems to be genuinely interested in me and how I am doing. I find her decision making to be well grounded in the most current research and because of that she has successfully treated whatever it was that I came to see her for.I feel very strongly that Ginger is a definite asset to Westlake Family Practice and strongly reccomend her to anyone who is looking for a practitioner that cares about her patients and the work she is doing. I must also say, that as long as I I have been a patient at WFP everyone that I have met there have been professional and friendly. I would not want to entrust my medical care to anyone else or any other practice.
Sincerely,
Cathy Hilliard
If you need a back pain doctor then keep looking...but the office was great. This docotrs office has the friendliest office staff. My nurse was also above and beyond in kindness. The office was profesional and really clean. I went in hoping to get a referral to see a back specialist and they had an appointment for me scheduled with someone for the very next day. If you are looking to get immediate pain relief for chronic back pain thats really not what Dr. Fagerberger does. Pain medicine only masks the problem anyway. Thanks for your help Westlake Fmaily Practice.
Best Medical group in town. Good experience every time. Able to get in same day if sick if we call in the morning. New family members have gotten in within 1 day if not same day. On Time is another great perk. Have seen several different doctors with different family members, all really good.
High quality Family Practice Doctors. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism by the front office staff, the MA, and Dr Fagerberg. I needed a family doctor and was able to get an appointment for a physical within a week. When I got the flu, I called in the morning and they got me in that afternoon. Wait times were minimal both times. I am in the medical profession and appreciate all of the above.
Beware of missing an appointment.
BEWARE! The charge for missing an appointment is $75. The policy of the office is that this fee will not be waived under any circumstances (even, in my case, a family emergency, and their office's failure to call and remind me of my appointment).
The doctors are fine, and the medical assistants are cheery and helpful, but I will be changing primary care physicians.
I'll be looking for an office with a little more compassion.
This late cancel no show fee of $75.00 is for a PHYSICAL appointment, which our doctors set aside a full hour for the patient. The patient is told when they schedule the appointment there is a 48 hr late/cancel no show time frame in which to reschedule or cancel this hour long appointment. We get the patients ccard information to secure this hour long appointment and they are informed again, they will only be charged if they late cancel or no show. There are no hidden charges with our doctors. Our doctors pride themselves in allowing an hour for a good physical with quality time for the patient.
What a Service.
I have moved to Austin not too long ago with a family of 3 and I was looking a younger bright physician who is efficient and energetic, and gets right to the point. Several of my colleagues have recommended Dr. Chen from the Westlake family practice group and boy was I pleased. Not only that the clinic would see me in the same day that I called (I travel allot), but also this last month when I was on a business trip in Los Angeles and had horrible cold, when I called the clinic Dr.Chen called a local pharmacy in LA so I could pickup my medicine within 2hrs. WOW! this is what I called a customer service with a simile :)
Efficient, Fast, Prompt and Caring.
Poor bedside manner and inefficient. I was very disappointed with Dr. Chen. I went to see her due to an animal bite and she never even bothered to look at my wound. Her bedside manner was cold and flippant and she prescribed horse pills that I was not able to swallow even though she knew that I had had stomach surgery. Based on my one visit to her, I would not recommend that anyone see her and I will definitely never go back.
