Great Service - If you don't mind a guilt trip.
I came in to buy my first set of "real" kitchen shoes the other day and I can't tell you how great the service was. Both of the ladies there that day were attentive and helpful, happily going out of their way to assist me in not only finding a shoe to fit my needs but also in my final decision.
Unfortunately I made the wrong decision.
I returned promptly the next day, shoes and apologies in hand, pride hanging by a thread, to find that to my dismay that neither Abbey nor the other employee that had helped me previously were on shift. Fortunately the one employee at the counter was receptive and assisted me in returning my shoes for the twice as expensive pair I had looked at the day before.
However she didn't do it easily.
No, she seemed rather grudging about the matter. Though she thankfully made the return for me, she made sure to remind me a few times that the store could no longer sell the shoes I had brought back and they would have to give them away thereby losing money on them. I guess I am lucky that "Everybody get's one chance" but man did it make me feel uncomfortable.
I will return to Instep to purchase my next pair of non-slips because they genuinely do have good customer service and a great selection but if I ever recommend them it will be with a warning.
Excellent service!!. I went to InStep because I needed my orthotics adjusted. The Pedorthist at Instep is named Stephen and he is truly amazing. He met with me and gave me 2 different add ons for my orthotic to try and called me several times to see how they were feeling and to ask which one was working better. He emailed my podiatrist during the week to let him know what I had told him. I gave Stephen the orthotics so he could permantly attach the add ons and he offered to re-align them with a cushionier fabric to help my feet. He is a truly amazing guy that goes above and beyond to help you and I recommend Instep and Stephen to ANYONE that has foot/ankle/ knee pain.
Editorial Review. Footcare specialists also sell stylish and comfortable footwear by Birkenstock, Crocs, Dansko and more.
5 year customer. I have been an InStep customer for 5 years. I appreciate the friendliness and expertise of the staff. I have never been displeased with the service although I dislike buying shoes. They make it very pleasant. They give me space and time to consider my purchase, which is just what I need. Even if I pick out something that is wrong for my feet, they will help me find something like it that works for my difficult feet.
Great shoe selection and Great customer service.
I had been looking for a new pair of shoes for work for sometime.
Their staff was very knowledgable about their shoes. They helped me realize what kind of shoe my feet needed (neutral or negative heal) for comfort since I am on my feet all day. I am on my feet 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and no longer have sore feet when I go home.
I found that In Step has the best selection of Birkenstock. It took me 3 visits to make up my mind, but I LOVE the shoes I bought and wear them everyday. I was able to wear them all day from the first day. I will be buying another pair for warmer weather as new styles come out.
I highly recommend In Step.
Disagree wuth "blisters" - InStep is an excellent shoe store with friendly, patient, knowledgeable staff.
I have had foot pain since I was 13 (I am now 29). I went into InStep with some challenging problems. I am very particular about my shoes, needed a high toe box, needed help with even higher arch support than Danscos offer, and don't have much money. They were patient and cheerful as I tried on probably 15 pairs of shoes. When we finally selected a pair, they stretched the leather in a spot where it was a little too tight. Although the shoes were expensive, they are the only pair I own. I have not had foot pain as long as I wear them. I have worn them out now (4 years of continual wear) and am on my way there today to get a new pair. I would recommend their staff anywhere. Their service is just as good as Karavel Shoes.
A side note about "blisters'" review: it is never wise to take brand new shoes on a walking vacation. You should always make sure you properly work out any footwear kinks in advance. It is unfair to blame your mistake on InStep. Hopefully you have the humility to learn from your mistake to avoid future discomfort.
their shoes gave me blisters on my euopean vacation. I purchased Dansko shoes from In Step and while walking around in Europe, i got horrible blisters. You know how bad that is on vacation. Not all comfort shoe stores are equal. The reason these shoes gave me blisters is they were not properly fitted to me. So, that means, In Step does not train their staff to properly fit shoes. Shame on you guys for selling me Danskos without a proper fitting. I have since found a comfort shoe store that does me right.
We are sorry that Sharon was unhappy with her shoes. We wish that she had come to us and allowed us to fix the problem and hope to still have that opportunity. We do make mistakes and our goal is to respond and correct those mistakes as best we can.
We do, however, disagree with the assertion that her blisters are evidence that we have an untrained staff. Our records show that she bought the shoes on 2/6/07 and the same day exchanged the shoes for a size that we did not recommend. We were concerned enough to note that fact on her receipt and in our records.
Blisters are caused by the presence of 2 factors, shearing (movement) and pressure and can happen even in the correct size shoe. Sometimes they indicate the wrong shoe choice for the activity or for that individual, the wrong hosiery choice or the need for an alteration to accomodate the unique shape/needs of individual feet.
InStep has a fabulous staff of experienced, well-trained and kind people.
