Longboard Heaven.
Lowbrow Emporium is one of those Austin-cool stores that sells quirky art, eclectic gifts, and best of all, the funkiest Longboard Skateboards around. It's actually one of the only places in Austin that does specialize in longboards and their selection is awesome. From standard trick boards you see every kid riding to the fat old-school boards from the 80's to the already mentioned longboards. They also sell skateboard accessories so that you can put together your own if you want. From crazy colorful wheels to all sizes of trucks to grip tape to screws, you name it. Even if you are not a boarder, its hard not to be impressed with what they have and the graphics on their boards.
What I dig the most about this store is the way it's set up. It's got this vibe about it where all the gifts in the store could pass as art. Hell, I just like going in to look around. It feels like an art gallery. The only thing missing are benches in each section of the store so that you can relax and take it all it. :)
Anyway, check it out. It's in the "SoLa" section of town (South Lamar) which is fast becoming the next South Congress (SoCo).

Gaze at the reasonably priced toys and gifts. Reward your diverse taste with a long board or a painting from one of Austin's many visual artists on display..
In Short
This bohemian southside retailer features local artists, skateboards, clothing, toys and literature in an inspired setting that encourages shoppers to explore. In the front room, a giant working waterfall and two comfortable chairs allow children and adult shoppers alike to pull a toy off the shelf and try it out. The back room has custom long boards, T-shirts and fine art alongside funky lunch boxes and varied knickknacks. Some shoppers gravitate toward the varied lotions and soaps while others prefer to check out the skateboards and T-shirts.
