I heart Trivia @ Third Base!. I have recently discovered Trivia at Third Base. It is so fun. We have a group that goes there now every Tuesday. We have placed a few times and the prizes are $75 gift card for first place and $40 for second and $20 for third. We loved the Saturday Night Live and 80's movie rounds! We didn't win the free pitcher of beer for best team name again though this time...next time....next time! I have always loved going to Third Base but now I love it even more. I am a trivia nerd to the max and this trivia is so much better than other bars that TRY to have fun trivia but its just always disappointing. Thanks Third Base!!!
Horrid Beer Selection, Poor Management.
I used to love Third Base. They advertise "good" beer and "good" beer selection. Not so much. If you want macrobrewed domestics that you can get anywhere, go to Third Base. If you are looking for a tasty microbrew or two, find another place. As for the food, it is average, but pricey.
Now, here's the kicker. Not a fan of the management. I have set up a couple events with them. Reserved room. But, when we show up, we are greeted with "just find a place to stand." And, then constantly, "You can't stand here. We are serving the people at the tables." Not impressed.
On a positive note, the facilities are awesome. Bathrooms are great.
WoW! Fun !. Went to Watch Cubs game the other day. I wish they had more of these, TV's everywhere and highquality. I got a Salad for lunch, It was huge and fresh not what i expected to see on the menu at a sports bar with a TON of beer, Yum Beer. Our Waitress was pretty cute too, Ill be back alot.
good place to watch a game!. I highly recommend this place to watch a game! Much bigger than most sports bars and the food isn't have bad. The waitress was nice and didn't have attitude like some. I'll be going back for every game!
Mopac-adjacent sports bar and happy hour spot boasts plenty of free garage parking and flatscreen TVs..
In Short
Expect crowds of sports fans and after-work happy hour groups enjoying the large projector screen and unobstructed views of the three dozen TVs. More than just a testosterone-filled beer bar, Third Base provides a full menu including the popular Mama Beaver's chili, mini corn dogs and sliders, wings and burgers. There's always a game on one of the screens and those inclined to more participatory pleasures can play darts or participate in a Monday, Tuesday, Friday poker match.
cool sports bar. lots of TVs. reasonable beer. Nachos are decent. Food seemed ok for a sports bar. Again, lots of TVs reasonable beer. Waiter was swamped but did a great job. during a UT game...
Best Sports Bar In Town!. Third Base totally rocks! They have a decent selection of beer and liquor, plenty of open space so you don't feel crowded even if it is a packed night, and there is always an event going on that keeps me wanting to come back for more. The staff is also quick with their service and very personable. An example of this is last night I wanted a breath mint after having dinner there and they were all out, so the owner offers me a piece of gum instead! If you are looking for a place to watch the game, hang out with friends, or just to get out of the house, Third Base of Austin is where it's at.
(((((((((((((( AVOID ))))))))))))))))))))0. Food was terrible, had to send back my iced tea due to bad taste (try cleaning the tea brewing machine once in a while--it makes a world of difference). Couldn't eat the Burger because it tasted horribly burned and the meat was very sour. The bun was full of greese, and the greens were limp. My brother had the flat iron steak and he could not cut through it very well. I tasted it and it had gobs of black pepper all over and the meat was freezer burned. Why would the chef not be using fresh food is beyond me. Stop being lazy and use fresh food, it's not rocket science. The wait staff was great!!!!! The girls were very cute.
Everything is GREAT about Third Base. That's right, I said it, EVERYTHING. The services, the food (try the tortilla soup), the prices, the beer, their lunch and happy hour specials, TONS of t.v.s showing every game, the free covered parking and patio seating. This place is a must try for lunch and game watching.
Great TVs and good beer selection. I like how they say that it's called Third Base because it's your last stop on your way back to home. Nice baseball metaphor for a sports bar. They have a ton of large flat-screen TVs, so you've got a good seat for the game no matter where you're sitting. I was there for Monday Night Football and the crowd was lively, but not obnoxious. We didn't have the best service, but it was good enough. Just a little stand-offish. The parking is kinda weird, since you pretty much have to park in a parking garage and then walk down, but at least it's free and there's plenty of it.
