High ceilings, tacos from TacoDeli, and direct-trade coffee make this one of my favorite coffee shops in Brentwood to get work done -- it's one of those coffee shops where you can comfortably camp out all day.
Beer and hummus. Came in to use wifi , ordered tecate and hummus. Life is good
One sip of the coffee and I spat it out.. I came here with my fiancé to study. We ordered coffee. When it came, I took a sip. It was horrible! I figured it must be an old pot, so I asked the employee to make a new pot. He was very nice about it, but when the coffee came, it tasted just as bad as the first cup. I can't justify frequenting a coffee shop that serves terrible coffee. Even folgers is better.
Better coffee and attitude elsewhere.
I have gone to Thunderbird several times, hoping for an improvement. I have found that the coffee is somewhat overpowering and acrid, regardless of drink type or preparation method. I want to like the place since it is two blocks away from the house. I want to like it because it has unique decor.
Despite my wanting to like the place, it fails to meet my requirements. Good coffee is one of the requirements as well as a friendly staff.
Almost all of the employees are friendly, except for one. On several seperate occasions, I have gone to Thunderbird and encountered this one individual, an unfriendly hipster. If I wanted attitude with cup of coffee, I would ask for it. Instead, I get it without even having to ask.
Coffee-leaves a lot to be desired
Staff-one individual sours the whole bunch
Ryan makes the best coffee.
I have been going to Thunderbird for a year now. I thoroughly enjoy it. I ride my bike there (though my bike has a problem fitting in the bikerack if I don't get to use the outer side), which is good because the parking can be limited. But no need to fear, Woodrow is a safe place to park your car.
I like the industrial chic look of Thunderbird. I like the color on the walls, the art, the coffee boy Ryan that makes my coffee really well, and offers up vegan carrot cake that is so delicious you won't believe its vegan.
The patio is also really nice too, with wonderful metal chairs and lights.
This place also has a lot of outlets, which is good, because I usually go there to study and take advantage of the free internet.
Just when I thought Thunderbird couldn't get any better they started offering more sandwiches and salads. I also like how the coffees are named after the regulars. It feels good to walk in and see the neighbors, read the community happenings, and order a feel good coffee made by Ryan. You should try it today.
For those of you that say it takes a while to get your coffee- it's fresh. It's made fresh for you, and its delicious. I've never felt like I've waited too long for coffee there. Be patient. Good things take more then 30 seconds.
Great local coffee, sandwiches, and booze. I love this place! Their sandwiches are good, the coffee is good (try the Cuban), and the staff has always been friendly in my experience. Good place to hang out, study, or meet people. Recommended.
Good But....
What's up with the 25 cent fee for credit card charges under $5.00. I understand it's just 25 cents but it's the principal of the whole thing. They need to go to the Visa web site and read up on their agreement with visa Mastercard.
I you accept Visa Mastercard you accept all payments between $5.00 to $500,0000.
Food OK.. Coffees OK..
Rude employees and questionable food.. I really wanted to like this place ....but found the employees to be very rude in this south dallas location. Can't talk for their coffee, but ice tea is a poor watered down version ....that tastes like water with the color of tea. Worst of all, I ordered a salmon, cream cheese panini .... and got sick from it. And I don't have a sensitive stomach. Consider yourself warned.
Hip residents of Crestview, Rosedale and Allandale sip joe, tea, Mexican Coke, wine and beer at this neighborhood coffee shop..
In Short
The pale green building with a modern, bright blue and white interior is adorned with simple, yet funky metaliic light fixtures. It's a neighborhood sandwich shop, coffee purveyor, meeting room, study hall and occasional performance space. In the day, diners grab breakfast and lunch panini sandwiches while their evening counterparts opt for select beers or wines. Live music is often performed, inside our outside on the covered patio.
good coffee and paninis. this is a great low-key coffee hang-out on the corner of Koenig and Woodrow. Has a well-designed interior and a deck outside for when the weather's nice.
