Decent Asian. Kid pleaser. My kids and I really enjoy this restaurant. It's a real step up from Panda. The ingredients are all fresh, there's plenty of veggies, and my kids like to watch the crazy Japanese game shows they show on the television sometimes. I like spicier fare like Thai basil, and the pad thai. My only disappointment was the hot and sour soup, which was rather gooey and not what I wanted to soothe a sore throat.

I MISS NYC. I was looking forward to trying Mama Fu's after reading a rave review in one of Austin's local mags. What a disapointment! Who ever wrote the article has obviously never had real Asian food. If their is such a thing as good mall food, then Mama Fu's would be the opposite, oh and the fast food lay out, YUCK! TX, please stop building your resturants in stripmalls, give them some character.

Can Mama Fu's expand to Houston?. I live in Houston now, so unfortunately I can only go to Mama Fu's every couple of months when I drive up to Austin. I definitely have cravings... For entree, I really like the sesame chicken, and appetizer -- the beef curry rolls are addicting! The Thai dynamite shrimp are good too, but I can usually only eat a few of them since they're pretty rich. Anyway, another good thing is that the meals are customizable -- for all of the main dishes, you can choose tofu, chicken, beef, shrimp, or veggie. Oh and unlike a lot of Asian restaurants, the food is MSG-free. :)

FRANCHEESE. I heard that the Chicken Pad Thai was great and perhaps should have gone with that...We got the Chicken Thai Basil with Rice and the General FU (exactly). I'm going to continue my search due to the overprocessed and less than tasty sauces. The general FU was overly sweet with far too many carrots and the Thai Basil was a bit dry (though it is normally with noodles and perhaps would be different). Perhaps a different night would produced different results. The server was pleasant on the positive side and attempted to get the Cowboys game on...but ended up with CNN talking about the economic bailout which may have set the tone for the evening :-).

Excellent Food, Great Service, and the right price. I would call Mama Fu's the blend between modern oriental and fast food. It's a great place to go during lunch, and at dinner they provide full table service (at least the night I went). My favorite item is the fried noodle dishes, which are fantastic. The portions are just the right size. The down sides is this location doesn't have a lot of room for large groups, but it does offer a patio. Lunch is much like a Cafe' line where you place your order and they hand you a cup and a number.

Great Food!. I travel to Austin quite a bit and Mama Fu's is always at the top of my list for places to have lunch. Great service and atmosphere. Highly Recommend.

Atlanta-based chain spices up Austin with fast, fresh Pan-Asian cuisine and a kid-friendly atmosphere.. In Short
This lively restaurant carries the chain's signature bold colors and spacious patio. Lunch features counter service while dinnertime diners are treated to full table service or speedy takeout. Menu favorites include Pan-Asian fare made fresh (the display kitchen offers views of lightning-fast woks) such as crispy shrimp dynamite, lettuce wraps, seared ahi tuna and various noodle and rice bowls, curries and veggie-filled stir-fries served with your choice of meat or tofu. There's also free Wi-Fi.

Good, nice variety with healthy choices.. Nice selection...has healthy choices as well. me and my mother both got the steamed rice, veggies, and chicken with the curry, mongolian, and basil something sauces which were spicy except for the curry. I love that you can choose from a pretty long list of sauces to add, or you dont have to add any at all if you want to be healthy. Service was good, ambiance was ok, a little franchise like...but modern. I call it pei wei jr. because it's alot like pei wei but a little less "nice." They dont have kung pao shrimp or chicken which is off-putting, but they have similar choices which do fine.

Great find! Food and service A+. My wife and I were told about Mama Fu's by our neighbors who love it - they were right. We have been there many times now and always have exceptional food - especially the lettuce wraps and Pad Thai.

Different than many restaurants in Austin, Mama Fu's staff are always smiling, helpful and provde good service. Definitely try this place.
