Awesome Yellow Curry Stew.
This is a quiet little restaurant tucked away in a corner strip mall at the NE corner of Burnet and 183. I love the yellow curry stew called Gang Garee on the menu. It's a pretty good sized family style bowl of stewed chicken, potatoes, carrots, and curry that you can pour over your separate plates of steamed rice. The decor is a little ecclectic and odd, with one table under a bright chandelier and one table under a disco ball?.?. There are orchids at each table too. I think the place is family run since it's always the same people there working the register and serving. They are always super sweet. My friend likes the chicken pad thai and we always get the fried tofu which comes in little crispy triangles with a selection of peanut and sweet-n-sour sauce. They have a lunch buffet but I've never been there for lunch so I don't know what the selection is like. But dinner is always great.

Great service, tasty food.
We usually go to the downtown Thai Passion, which we love. But since this was closer and we bought a coupon off of restaurant dot com, we decided to try it. The restaurant was nice and quiet. The waitress was EXTREMELY friendly and nice. I reiterate the last review...the service was excellent. She was by herself, but she was fast, nice, efficient, came to check up on us, etc. The food was good...A-. Tasty, but I unwrapped one of my spring rolls to take out the cilantro, the lettuce fell out, and there was a muddy dirt glob on the lettuce. I never said anything, and just took it out of the spring roll. It could be a one time thing, since mistakes of poor washing happen once in awhile, or...I don't know. I'm hoping it was a one time thing, and they just "missed" that part on the lettuce, while washing.
All in all, the restaurant experience was cozy and nice. I'm not sure if it's a place for kids, if you have loud, crazy kids that are rambunctious. The restaurant is close and tidy, and very intimate setting and quiet, so my son was loud at times, and though no one minded, I felt like I had to tell him to stay quiet most of dinner. Not the same as if I was in a loud restaurant, or like the Thai passion restaurant in downtown...bigger, louder, busier, and my son fits right on in.

Ut - Oh.
I don't know if it was just what I ordered - but YUCK. I could have thrown together what arrived on my plate - and just added a few Thai spices and it would've been similar. (Yes, I have been known to fix something gross here and there.) The lettuce was wilted - and I mean brown! The shrimp was rubbery and did not taste the least bit like it was grilled - as it should have been .... although, the shrimp did have one black line down it. The Tom Yum soup was good but would have been so much better if it were fresh. The service was the best part; attentive, timely and polite.
