Curly Genius. I researched hair cutters before choosing Tanya Steele at Topaz. She is a genius with curly hair. Just had my hair done yesterday and wow. My hair has never looked this good.

Not only was Ms. Steele punctual, but she gave me great advice on how to avoid frizzy hair. She didn't try to push product on me but explained to me what she liked and why. She has a great chairside personality as well.

Ms. Steele listened to me. She explained why I needed a bit more length off than I wanted and I agreed. Rarely have I encountered someone with such fabulous people skills combined with stylist know how. I do know one thing.

I will go back to Ms. Steele. The only way anyone is ever touching my hair again is if she hangs up her shears. If you want someone who not only knows hair but also knows people, you really owe it to yourself to let Tanya Steele style your hair.

Tanya Steele: hip hair specialist!. "Tanya Steele has been styling my hair for years now. When she said she was moving to Topaz salon, I gladly followed. I have NEVER been unhappy with the way she styled or colored my hair. I always love it! Sometimes when I'm feeling adventurous I just tell her to cut my hair however she wants, and it always looks amazing! She also did my hair (and my bridesmaids hair) for my wedding. Everyone looked chic and hip, but still elegant and timeless. If you're looking for a new stylist in Austin, I strongly recommend Tanya Steele."

Avoid at all cost!. I will never go by customer reviews ever again. I went to see Ms. Steele to save a little money but I wound up spending a lot more to fix her awful mistakes. It is in my opinion that Ms. Steele does not know how to give a simple hair cut. I wanted to get my ends trimmed and get a long layered cut. In my opinion I perceived her to be an amateur, it took her forever to do the simplest things and her scissors were not sharp so when she attempted to cut my hair I felt a lot of pulling. She cut too much hair in certain areas and as a result of the terrible and uneven cut I received I had to get an emergency cut by my regular stylist. I should have never strayed away from the best salon in the universe, Jackson Ruiz. I tried to get some of my money back from Ms. Steele but to no avail, she used different techniques to dry my hair so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I went home and styled my hair as usual, once I noticed that it was the cut not the technique, I knew she had done a terrible job. I regret ever making that call and booking that appointment, it was an expensive lesson learned, but I know now that Jackson Ruiz is the best of the best. If you need your hair straightened, cut, curled, or colored go see the PROFESSIONALS at Jackson Ruiz. Phillip and Terry are awesome with all types of hair especially ethnic textures. Phillip is also an expert in relaxing hair. TRUST ME JACKSON RUIZ IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! It's a shame I have to even give this review a "star".

Best Stylist in Austin. Not only is Tanya Steele the most amazing hair stylist and colorist - she is the only person I trust with my hair in Austin, TX! Everytime I leave the salon, I absolutely LOVE my hair color and/or cut! I get compliments on my hair all the time - at least once or twice a week - and I've been going to Tanya for over 4 years now. I love all the compliments I get! I'm a devout Tanya Steele customer! I just went in this week and had her Ionic Rescue Conditioner put in my hair. I was so impressed by how silky smooth my hair was when I left the salon. The true test is that I've since washed my hair and expected to lose the luster, softness, and shine - but I was far from wrong! My hair is still super silky and soft. I have very thick hair and some of the hair near the nape of my neck is pretty course - all of which are incredibly soft since I had the Ionic Rescue Conditioning Treatment. The treatment is supposed to last up to 6 weeks - so I look forward to my new SOFT 'do for weeks to come. I fully recommend Tanya to all of my girlfriends and they have all been thrilled with her talent as well. If you are looking for a great stylist who will garanteedly make you happy - I recommend Tanya to you too!

Amazing stylist!. I have been going to Tanya Steele for two years because she is an amazing stylist! I've followed her to three salons and will continue to follow her. She truly cares about the health of my hair and always takes her time when styling me. I am a black woman who wanted to go to a nice salon and to a stylist that didn't want to put tons of heavy product in my hair and I found that at Topaz with Tanya. Tanya is professional and innovative and I won't let anyone else touch my hair!

I found a Stylist !!!. i was nervous when i picked my salon based on a web review but with all the positive feedback i figured it was worth a shot - i mean the hair would grow back......

There was never a need to worry. I showed her a few pictures and explained what I wanted in my hair - and how little I was willing to invest in styling time! She knew exactly what i wanted even what I was slightly vague - i said "conservative funky" .... she delivered! My hair color is BETTER than i expected and the cut is fabulous. I'm so happy - it was worth every penny. her prices are reasonable - she explained everything well and was great fun to chat with ! I've already convinced my sister to ditch her stylist for Tanya. I will be back ! I finally found a stylist....!!!!

Best Haircut EVER!. I went to Tanya with something very specific, and pretty wild in mind. She approached it with a lot of caution, and she spent a good deal of time making sure that i was really ready for such a drastic cut. But once she got cutting she was totally into it. She's way more thorough than any other stylist i've ever gone to, she spent alot of time going back to texturize, and perfect the cut. She was also really good about explaining how to style it as she went along. I've gotten so many complements on this new cut, and i'll definitely be back soon.

Awesome job!. Tanya does a wonderful job on hair. I highly recommend going to her. I have been a client of hers for over 3 years and I am very grateful to have her as my stylist. I always get compliments on my hair even weeks after it has bbeen cut.

Great stylist. Tanya rocks. I've been going to her exclusively for 3 years and have never had a bad cut or color job. She can tell you what works, and more importantly, what doesn't work. The salon is nice, but she keeps it real and isn't pretentious at all. She also wants to ensure a satisfied customer, asking me to call in a couple of days after a color job to make sure I'm happy with it. I get frequent compliments on my hair, something that didn't happen until I started going to her.

You want great looking red hair? (and a great cut?). Ditto to everything said about Tanya: I have red hair (not mine, actually) and anyone with red hair knows how difficult it is to keep it, much less keep it looking good. Tanya has worked with me on the shades I like and has found ways to keep it vibrant for more time than I thought possible. I appreciate not only that, but her working with my cut--short--and working with my odd schedule to keep it in good shape.. How do I know that? Because people keep complimenting my hair and asking me who cuts it! Isn't that the highest praise you could give your stylist?
