Awesome Gelato!. I wasn't quite sure what "the funny named" ice cream was (called gelato) until I moved to Austin. I first saw it at a chocolate place in an upscale mall and I found it interesting, however the flavors and presentation at Piccomolo's were fantastic! My sister and I went with four kids the other day and the server allowed us to try any flavor we requested and was still gracious when it took us a while to actually place all of our orders. It was kid friendly but also a place I could go with my husband at the end of date night. And I found out that not only is their gelato delicious there but it has less fat in it than regular ice cream.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!. I went there on a late Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend. My girlfriend had a frozen yogurt with some fruit toppings on top, which could have been nice had the fruit actually been fresh. The pineapple toppings had gone bad!!! Yuck. I bought a kid-sized gelato which was average at best. I found a piece of hair as I was finishing it. Had it not been for dinner reservations, I would have driven back to demand my money back. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Very good gelato. I've been to a lot of gelato stores in Austin. This place has the best looking gelato by far. Their presentation is just amazing. Just like in Italy. My favorites here are birthday cake and turtle cheesecake. One of the best gelato stores in Austin.
Overated. Simply some of the worst Gelato I've ever tried, the texture is poor(ice crystals) and the flavor is way too sweet.
Great authentic gelato. Some of the best gelato I've had. Great atmosphere. Right next to Pei Wei, which is a big plus since they don't have a dessert menu.
Editorial Review. Austin ice cream chain started by UT students set up shop in their hometown.
