Editorial Review for The Chocolate Bar – by Suzanne Wright
The Scene
A warm and inviting atmosphere--russet walls, dark woods, exposed brick and a gleaming case filled with chocolate--entice lingering at this low-key boîte and the staff don't mind at all. Servers are unabashedly enthusiastic and highly responsive; a slightly wrinkled nose brings a quick, cheerful fix. Sometimes you can catch a glimpse at the on-site chocolatier at work.
The Food
Light savories balance the sweets. The curried popcorn is genius snacking with a house-made limoncello cocktail or a watermelon cava spritzer. Georgia pecan soup with Vidalia onion is off-sweet and creamy, a fine foil to a charcuterie and cheese plate; try the fennel seed-flecked salami and the Roquefort Paillon with a glass of Windmill zinfandel. Desserts include strawberry shortcake or exotic bonbons such as white chocolate passion fruit, coconut-curry and basil ganache. The Buddha-shaped Lotus Sutra is filled with yerba mate, lemon, ginger and cardamom.

My husband and I had drinks and dessert here on Wednesday night - The Chocolate Bar and Espresso martini are some of the best I've ever had. We sat outside and it was a good crowd. The server was very attentive. The best part was the guy behind the bar - he was soooo helpful and enthusiastic. We had trouble deciding on which truffles to get and he gave us some great opinions on which he loved. (We had the ones with grand marnier, tequila, caramel, and some others - they were all great and FRESH!) The owner was running around helping people and very hands on, which I liked. All in all, I will plan to come back here and tell all my fellow Agnes Scott alums to be sure to stop by when they're around campus as well!

I love chocolate and have been so thrilled to find the chocolate bar. It is a little out of the way if you live OTP, but it is worth the drive.
Cons: Need to set up the outside tables that are always stacked up
