SHI Strives for Customer Satisfaction
by tburna at Citysearch
We hired Signature Home Improvement to demo our existing walk-in shower down to the studs and replace with natural tumbled travertine stone tile and frameless glass shower enclosure. Everything went flawlessly from start to finish. Received initial visit from Signature Home Improvement representative to preview the project and answer questions. Received email with description of work and cost breakdown for the project.
Met with our SHI representative at the tile supplier to select the travertine stone for the surround and visited SHI office to sign the contract. SHI demo team tented the adjoining bedroom furniture and constructed a heavy duty paper walkway from the front door to the bathroom worksite. The worksite was cleaned up at the end of each workday. Members of the demo team, plumbers, fiberglass worker, tile installer, painter, shower glass installers, etc., were all very courteous, neat and respectful of our home.
SHI phoned at the end of each workday to inquire how things went and to answer any questions. All workers arrived on time when SHI said they would be there and worked diligently to complete the work. The craftsmanship of the tile work is awesome. We are very happy with the finished project.

Home Renovation done right
by ne0t0ky0 at Citysearch
We went to SHI with a vision of a new kitchen and hardwoods in our house and now we have it.
At our house we had quite a bit of work done. We replaced our countertops with granite, a new undermount sink, backsplace replaced, new tile floors in the kitchen, all cabinets and drawers painted, all of the main walls painted and hardwood flooring and baseboards installed in nearly every room in the house.
The material selection was a breeze and once that was complete, everything was in motion. The countertops were removed and replaced with a nice selection we found at one of the SHI vendor suggestions, all in one day. The backsplash was installed and then grouted the next day. The painters came and repaired some cracks and holes in the drywall and then painted all of the rooms.
Then our old kitchen flooring was demo'ed and removed along with removing all of our existing cabinet doors and draws which got taken to the SHI office to be sanded and painted like new cabinets. After installing the flooring in the kitchen they prepared the kitchen cabinets to be painted with the same high gloss cab-acrylic paint. We had some molding and trim installed on the top to raise the height (a suggestion by SHI) and it worked dramatically well. They look like brand-new cabinets.
After the kitchen was done they tackled the rest of the job which was a large amount of hardwood flooring. They were installing nearly 1400 sqft of flooring so after a number of weeks we were ready to be done, but the results are just amazing. New hardwoods, new baseboards, caulking, touch ups, every detail we needed addressed was handled.
The staff in the office are excellent; any time we needed information or any attention they were a email or phone call away. The workmen were excellent tradesmen and women who knew how do to great work and had pride in everything they did. One look at our house now and you can tell SHI has an awesome team dedicated to making your home renovation come out better than you imagined.
Exactly what we wanted, fantastic company to work with
by shogg at Citysearch
We had SHI install granite countertops and an electrical outlet in our kitchen.
First we had a sales person come out to our home to take a look at our kitchen and give us a price for the countertops we wanted. While he was there we also asked him about our cabinets as we were looking to do something to update them around the same time. He gave us a quote to do the work for us but also gave us a lot of information and tips about doing it ourselves (which is what we ended up doing). As he inspected the kitchen he also noticed that we didn't have an electrical outlet for an over-the-range microwave and said that they could install one for us. I guess good sales people are always looking for an "upsell" but I didn't get that feeling at all -- him noticing the lack of an outlet saved us frustration later on and his tips on DIY for the cabinets were honest and gave us confidence he cared more about the relationship than squeezing a few extra dollars out now.
The price he quoted us per square foot seemed high at first but I was pleased to learn that it included everything (demolition, edging, a stainless undermount sink, hooking up the plumbing after installing the sink, etc.). The other people I talked to about countertops advertise a lower cost but then charge extra for all the (necessary) "extras".
We ended up just going with the granite at which point Mickey (our sales guy) met us at their office to show us their facilities and to begin looking at stones. We didn't care for any of the exotic level 2 and 3 stones they had left over from other jobs (that they offered to us at level 1 prices) but found something we liked at a local granite distributor. After we picked our stone we wrote SHI a check for half the project cost.
The next day an electrician came to install the outlet. He was on-time, quick and efficient.
The next day we received a call from the office saying that the granite guys wouldn't need the full day to install and was it OK if they came around 12? It was. They were waiting for to get home from work at 12:10 and were done by 3:30 or so.
The day after that their plumber came by to install the faucet and garbage disposal I had provided. Once he was done (again, on-time and no fuss) I asked him how you were supposed to install a dishwasher under the granite. He said normally you would fix a piece of wood under the countertop and screw into that -- he then got on the phone to the office and arranged for a carpenter to come out and do so for us. I'm not sure if was a miscommunication between myself and the granite installers and should have been done earlier or just a favor based on my question but either way I'm happy with the result.
We were really impressed with the communication. While some of the workers weren't the most talkative (at least not in English), I felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing and that the girls in the office were keeping everyone in the loop with regards to the schedule and who would be showing up when and to do what.
I realize I sound like an ad but I was happy with the service and am happy to recommend SHI. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives but I value the confidence that comes from working with a company that values their reputation (I mentioned I found them through online reviews and they did ask me to review them).
Signature does great work
by wyojaybee at Citysearch
We used Signature on a partial bathroom remodel. They converted a walk-in shower to a shower/tub combo, tiled the bath area and removed and remolded an outdate built-in vanity. We loved their work. Their estimate was well priced and we feel like we got great value for what we paid for. Their work was extremely well done. Their office staff particularly impressed me by calling each day to report on progress and receive our feedback. When we hit a small snag with one of their employees' tardiness, they immediately put a new person on the job that was amazing. We'd definitely work with them again and recommend them highly.
