Keep in mind that they cook twice or trice a week and store!. I was surprised to know that at Teji's Goat Curry cooked twice or trice a week not everyday. I do not think I will ever go again.
Horrible Service, will never go again.
I have been to Teji's before and at lunch time it is usually crowded. The service is normally slow.
This afternoon me and a couple friends went there. It was full and they somehow managed to find us a small table. When we ordered we asked how long it will take for us to get the food. They said it will be 15 mins. We were fine with that because we had to be back at work in an hour and 15 minutes and we thought we will have half an hour to eat and then drive back to work.
We waited for a full 35 mins and no sign of the food or our waiter/owner. She is the only one there and she has to take care or orders, the cheques and people paying for the food and also customers who shop at the grocery store. It was total chaos and even if it is full, they would not turn anyone away and make everyone wait. There was a big line just to pay for the food.
Anyways after 35 mins, with us getting hungry and time being short, we go to the kitchen and they have not even started working on our order. The cook said he will start with our order then. We waited for another 10 mins and no sign of the food showing up. Finally we decided to just leave as we had to get back to work. The owner lady was busy at the cashiers place and we told her that we are leaving since she said it will be 15 minutes and we had already waited for 40 mins. She did not even apologize but just shirked. We were all very upset and fuming and had to eat at subway real quick and get back to work.
The food there has bene good before. They just need to hire more cooks (we saw only one cook in the restaurant) and they need to hire one more person to manage the check out booth or to take orders. They are too stingy to hire more workers and it shows in their sutomer service. The lady was overwhelmed but she kept seating more guests.
I am not going to go there again unless they hire more staff and develop some courtesy.
yummy food, good prices.
The previous review says it all..
But I must add that the chats, biriyani, lamb korma, and all the dishes i've had there are just awesome!! Its the place I'd recommend for authentic Indian food.
And oh.. you've got to try the mango lassi, its the best!!
Best tasting Indian Food in Austin. We have been to all the indian restaurants in Austin and by far this is the only one which makes us go for lunch every Sunday. All the lamb dishes are to die for. They have excellent biriyanis as well. Basically this a grocery shop first and then a restaurant. This would not be a place to go on a date, but if you and your date love indian food , then the food would make up for the lack of a romantic ambience. The owner is really friendly and with the setup, i am extremely pleased with the service. For the price you get lot of food. This is score and score in my book. We usually have enough food for a second meal. Cant wait for Sunday!!!
great tasting food...really really bad service. The food is absolutely great. I usually do a pick up. One day, I decided to take my co-works to this place to have lunch....big mistake. The service is the worst I have seen so far. The owner ( teji) did not come and ask what we needed. I had to go to the kitchen window and order. The person I gave ther oder to could not speak english! No one came and asked ,if we needed water , utensils...we had to figure it all by ourselves. This service would have made sense if it was busy...but it was not at all busy..the owner was chatting with her friends. Overall I would say, good place for to-go , but dont sit and eat there. you will be in for a dissapointment. I hope Teji owners read this...they can then improve their service.
