Best hair style I've got since moving to Austin – I just moved to Austin from Virginia about five months ago and since than I have been looking for a stylist to do my hair, and if you are a woman of color you know that this is a crutial matter. I didn't know where to find a stylist that knew how to take care of my hair. I've been to about six different salons, all of them told me they knew how to deal with my hair. Once I get there I find out that they did not know what they were doing. Finally, last week I found A New Image Salon on city search and decided to give them a try. I was so impressed when I walked in the salon. It is so clean and cozy. The lady that did my hair styled it exactly the way I wanted it. I got a relaxer a conditioning treatment and a style. I left out of there feeling rejuvinated and best of all I had finally found a stylist to do my hair. I would recommend anyone new in town to go there.
QUESTION – Do you or anyone in your shop have pictures of some of the work you do??... because i don't like hard hair, or spritz; i like soft bouncy healthy hair... and I did see that you use products I like (mizani, kera kare, affirm) , but i don't know what to expect bc i don't know or have seen any of your clientele for a preview...
Stylist Search Question? – I am in search of a new stylist as I just moved to the area from Phili, and I would like to know if there are any other stylist in the salon besides a Foluke which I am assuming is the salon owner as all comments are focused on her? I am asking as I think I would like to visit the salon to get my hair cared for but from past experience I know the shop owner if a stylist in the salon is always overbooked and I would like to get in and out, or is it that there are no comments on other stylist as there are not good hairstylist? I noticed there are response to each comment, so I will await my response before calling to set my appointment.

To answer your question,yes I am the owner and yes there are two other stylist that work in the salon.The reason why most of the comments are for me is because I encourage my clients to write reviews about their experience at the salon and since I am the one who does their hair,I guess that's why they write about their experience with me.All stylist who work at the salon are independent stylist.They are their own boss,they set their own hours, they have their own business name,and they do their own advertising and don't encourage their clients to write comments about them on this add since they don't cover the cost.If you call the salon,you would be scheduled with which ever stylist that could service you first at the time that's convienient for you.Sometimes that stylist is me,and sometimes it's not, depending on if I'm booked for that day.I thank you for the comment and I hope this was helpful.
My favorite place to get away – I have been a customer of Foluke since before she opened her salon and I have never experienced in my entire life, a beautician who is not only concerned with the condition of your hair but also your well being. While the salon may not be a large commercial in and out salon like the JCPenney's or other larger salons, its size is arranged in such a way that allows for coziness and encourages laughter, conversation and bonds to grow. Unfortunately the woman who suffered the bad haircut, experienced what happens when we as women have a bad hair day, EVERYTHING goes wrong that day. And rather than give the salon owner the opportunity to fix it, she reacted to attempt to 'burn' the image of A New Image Salon. My heart goes out to her. However, if you are looking for a fun atmosphere in the salon, where there are no strangers but just new friendships waiting to blossom, this is the place for you. There is never a dull moment in this salon, at least from what I have experienced. I am sure ALL of the regulars and even some of the newbies would do nothing but to agree!!! Best Salon I've found – When I read the last review where the lady wrote that she had an awful experience at A New Image I knew that she must have been having a bad day because that?s where I get my hair done and I wouldn?t go anywhere else. I care about my hair a lot and I wanted a stylist that would know how the take care of it. Foluke does just that; she actually cares about the maintenance of my hair. She explains to me the products that she uses on my hair, why she uses them, and the benefits they have on my hair. She recommends excellent products that I use at home and ever since I?ve been going to her my hair looks and feels healthier. She?s also a very nice person to talk to and be around. I?ve recommended her to my co-workers and they love her. They?re regulars know. I?d recommend A New Image Salon to anyone looking for a place that actually cares about your hair.

Awful! – I bet the previous post was posted by the owner. I went there for a haircut this past week, and the experience was awful. First, the salon was not much bigger than a closet. It was dark and gloomy, and apparently couldn't even be bothered to hang their mirrors properly. Then it was time for my haircut. The hairstylist said she would have to wash my hair because she couldn't find her water bottle. I didn't realized it was hard to keep tabs on that in a salon. A place you'd think it was essential. The wash was okay. When it came to cutting my hair, she asked what I wanted, but for some reason she just couldn't figure out what I meant. I didn't think there was anything complicated with the request about having it slightly shorter in the front, and all one length in the back. She ended up layering my hair, and not completely. 2/3 the way around my head was layered, and the other part wasn't. If you look straight at me, my haircut looks layered on one side and the other looks unlayered and is one inch longer than the other. This was by far the worst haircut I have ever gotten. My mom has given me better cuts than this. I didn't think you could mess up long hair too much. The worst part is, I didn't even notice my unsymmetrical haircut until I got home because my hair was sooo wet at the salon and she quickly shoved a huge mirror in front of me to check the back which looked okay. They only take cash, which was not posted anywhere in the salon. I had to run around to get it and then returned to pay to find they had no change. You'd think you'd carry change if all you took was cash because there is no way anyone would want to tip for a cut like that. I'd go back and have them fix it, but I don't want them to come anywhere near my hair. They do weaves and the like, so maybe they can at least do that, but run far away if you are going there for a haircut.
As the owner,I would like to apologize to the writer of this comment.All of the stylist in my salon besides me are independent contractors so if you felt that your experience was awful,please do not think all other stylists or the salon as a whole as being awful.If you read this please call the salon and ask to speak to the owner and I will personally offer you a free cut,be sure to give your name,discription of yourself,& day of week your appointment was on,so that I will know it is you. That being said I would like to address some of the comments made.1st,the salon,although not the largest,is not actually a closet, it is over 700 Sq.ft. which more than meets the state requirements for a salon. 2nd, There are five flour to ceiling windows in the salon and over 15 large commercial florecent cieling lights which all makes the salon very bright and not gloomy.Last,our method of payment is stated at the top of this ad,I agree the stylist should've had change and for that I apologize.
