Editorial Review for Uncle Billy's Barbecue – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Casually attired Austinites kick back for beer and smoked grub under the oak trees on the laidback wooden deck. The restaurant interior features windowed garage doors overlooking Barton Springs Road that are raised during good weather and provide great people-watching opportunities. As the evening goes on, the restaurant welcomes casual drinkers and diners. Beer lovers partake of five beers made on site, including a hefeweizen, blonde ale, amber and an IPA.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

Bottled domestics like Miller Light and microbrew drafts like Live Oak are also available if you don't want to stray from your brand.

The Extras

There's not really an Uncle Billy. Instead, he's an idealized Texan good ole boy with a pickup, a smoker, a beer and a friendly word.

Fun Facts

Uncle Billy's is owned by the same folks that own Austin Java Company and the Austin area Little Woodrow's bars.

I hate to beat up any restaurant but this was the pits! Service slow and the beer was warm..I wish them more success in the future

Must tip my hat to the $2.00 Tuesday beer selections, which is indeed the only day to go the Uncle Billy's give that their beer is very inconsistent (Hefeweizen!). Great to have craft brewing in Austin but don't pat yourselves on the back yet. BBQ good but overpriced - must follow suit with the other overpriced restaurants (i.e. Romeo's).

Pros: Two dollar Tuesday's, patio seating

Cons: Overpriced BBQ, spotty service, inconsistent beer
