I got my perfect engagement ring. Dean did the best job making my engagement ring. My new fiance and Dean teamed up to make something so elegant and ornate. I couldn't ask for a more perfect ring. Dean was always available to answer any questions we had and was patient with our constant "Are we there yet?" attitude. Dean only works with the finest of materials, and as such, these one-of-a-kind works take time to make.

We couldn't be happier and I can't thank Dean enough for making this memory in our lives so perfect.

Come on now, lets REVIEW fairly! (In response to "Magnets"). Ok, so I have seen a lot of Deans work and I have to say that it is some of the best available and the craftsmanship and artistry is top notch! Not to mention, he is local and you have to support our local talent especially when its at Mr. Fredrick's calaber!

With that being said, I am friends with Dean and I have witnessed first hand his profesionalism, attention to detail, artistry, manors and work ethic and have seen him interacting with clients and have yet to see anyone dissappointed by his service or his eye for one of a kind 100% original designs. Deans design skills, artistic eye and knowledge of the jewelry industry is second to none. I think that the "Magnets" experiance with Dean was an isolated event and the review that was written was a bit unfair especially when no one really knows how the customer acted and treated the service provider. There are all kinds of factors that go into delays and truely, I understand the frustration that is caused by things being late, but lets be fair. So the ring was delivered late, ok, but, did it really ruin anything for you? I think that if you take a step back and look at the situation as a whole, its not that big of a deal. And, it certainly was not the end of the world. Not to mention, knowing Dean, he probably bent over backwards to give a super competitive price when the work was probably worth more than what was spent.

And anyways, whats more imprtant, the symbol or a life forever spent with the person that you love? Im sure the ring turned out fantastic as do all of Dean Fredricks creations do and your bride to be, im sure, loves it and the last thing on her mind is that it took a bit longer than expected to be delivered.

To me, its not worth getting all worked up over the small stuff. There is way to much to enjoy and honestly, the cutomer is not always right but that does not mean that it is ok for people to act all crazy to one another, and thats certainly not the case here.

Relax, Deep Breaths, and enjoy that special someone and continue to support our local talent! People deserve as many chances as it takes and most of us if we are to be honest, have gotten a lot of chances!

Great pieces, but not if you want them anytime soon. Since we chose Dean Frederick largely because of the reviews he received on sites such as this one, I feel it's necessary and responsible to share our story.

We took a 120-year-old family diamond to Dean and asked him to design a custom engagement ring for us. We immediately loved working with him - loved his work, loved his studio, loved his dog. He came across as a cool guy with a cool design aesthetic - someone we wanted to work with, hopefully well into the future as we needed other pieces of jewelry (including our wedding bands).

However, after he disregarded, ignored, and pushed back every promised deadline, we ended up receiving our ring several weeks after he originally stated.

He was weeks late on his initial CAD design after promising us multiple times that he'd get to us soon and we were next on his list. We had so much trouble getting him to draw up the initial design because he had a few "emergency" pieces he had to work on during this time that we actually ended up firing him because he clearly could not deliver in a timely manner. He assured us he wanted to work on our ring and we would be his priority, so we agreed to stick with him. The rest of the design process was mostly painless, but once it was time for production of the ring to begin, we faced the same odd deadline challenges. We would excitedly tell our friends and family the ring was a week away, only to have it pushed back another two to three weeks. We never did receive an adequate explanation of why things were taking so long or why we hadn't been put on "emergency" status the way other people had. And interestingly enough, we did see him out entertaining friends at SXSW in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, which only added insult to injury. Maybe his priorities are simply not his work?

We have literally spent the past several weeks waiting on edge for the finished product - we are a solid 5 weeks behind schedule. I can't tell you how much stress and confusion this has added to a time in our lives that is supposed to be one of the most special. The ring is beautiful, but that is no longer the point - the process itself was a painful one and we would never recommend this jeweler to anyone.

Best jeweler!. Dean spent time walking me through all the options for an anniversary ring, was very flexible and helpful. Made an outstanding classy antique piece for my wife and worked hard to get it done in a tight window so it would be ready on the needed date, she loved it. I won't be going anywhere else for jewelry needs.

The Best - Simply Amazing. Where to start? Maybe the quick review for those in a rush: go see Dean for any jewelry needs you may have. He's the best, hands down. You can read the rest of this review or other reviews, but I am telling you, you will want to go see Dean as soon as you can.

Now for those that have some more time: I came across Dean on Citysearch while looking for a place to get my fiancee's engagement ring. I had been to some local Austin jewelry stores, as well as Tiffany's in the Domain. After visiting at a handful of these stores, I wasn't wowed by anything I saw, even rings well beyond my budget. All the rings I saw just seemed uninteresting and plain, even those that were made to look baroque. I could buy a nice ring from these places, but the experience didn't feel personal to me. That wasn't how I wanted to propose to my future wife.

But then I found Dean. I went to his website and his rings just grabbed my attention. I liked the colored diamonds since my fiancee had mentioned that she liked colored stones. I gave his number a call and set up an appointment to see him the next day. When I met with him, we talked about my budget and he was instantly brain-storming ideas about what sort of ring he could make with my price point in mind. I was floored by his ideas -- his sketches alone seemed like more beautiful rings than the ones I had been spending my time looking at. After a couple of meetings, in between which we both thought about ideas, we came up with an amazing design I knew my fiancee would love. I brought a friend one day to a meeting with Dean, just to get a little outside perspective. Well, she also loved the design and was floored by how personable and helpful Dean was. Ever since, she has been dropping hints to her husband to go have a "talk" with Dean.

Suffice it to say, my fiancee loved the ring. Everyone who's seen her engagement ring loves it. In fact, she asked Dean for a bunch of business cards so she could hand them out instead of having to constantly explain where she got her ring.

We went back to get our wedding bands from Dean, and my fiancee was also instantly impressed by Dean and his work. Dean has really helped us to create beautiful, special, personal rings. They feel more like works of art than rings in fact. And throughout the process, Dean was incredibly accommodating of my schedule, budget, and ideas. We have also taken the rings back to have them cleaned and adjusted, and Dean's been happy to help.

It's rare to find people who excel at what they do. Not only does Dean excel at what he does, his down-to-earth, laid-back demeanor made the entire engagement/wedding ring process a joy. With no qualifications, I can easily say that if you need to purchase jewelry, you should see Dean.

The Dean Treatment. I had such a great experience with Dean. I live in the NYC area and my wife had seen one of his rings online. Well, as we all know, when a woman sees a ring she wants, there's not much we, as males, can do about it. The rub was that we were leaving for our vacation in three weeks. Dean not only custom made an exquisite ring but had it to me the day before we left. And I'm happy to report, my wife was absolutely thrilled with it. I have made my species proud and my wife to boot.

Absolutely the Best!. I contacted Dean to help create a setting for my 10th anniversary ring which would incorporate my engagement stone and 4 inherited family stones. I went in with some ideas but after talking with Dean it was clear that he has amazing talent, is personable, and very trustworthy. I left the design to the master and he has truly far surpassed my expectations. When my husband and I picked up the ring, and I saw it for the first time, my hands shook with excitement. I was amazed. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. I feel so honored to wear a Dean Fredrick design. Every person that sees it gasps and marvels at the detail and uniqueness. It is a timeless work of art.

I couldn't thank Dean enough. You can feel confident that he will create a masterpiece each time!
