Sail the Whip Cream Seas. Someone once gave me a whip-cream injected red velvet from these guys, one of Austin's first food trailers. My face melted, an I was forever in sweet, sweet love.

decent cupcake, great size. had 3 cupcakes, Carrot, Red Velvet and Strawberry. 2 out of 3 were very good, th ered velvet lacked flavor and moistness but the size was great for $3. I will go back and strawberry became my new favorite, delish!

Goodbye, Cupcake :(. I am with Mefitz 100%. I really wish I could like your cupcakes! Perhaps Branv and I went on the same day, where your recipe was accidentally sabotaged by a disgruntled employee who proceeded to be terrible at customer service and quit in a frenzied series of cupcake-ruining temper tantrums. But it's more likely that your cupcakes just need a little work! I practically forced my mother to go, promising her the best cupcake she's ever had in exchange for leaving her Dark Lair - and now she won't come back out, not even for Sushi!

The bad experience started with an obnoxiously rude girl at the counter, who just stared at us after we told her what cupcakes we wanted and pulled out a method of payment. I am young and I use crutches to walk, but that does not excuse for her poor behavior. Even children know not to stare. Once we finally got the cupcakes: We both thought our cupcakes (we got 2 different types, one chocolate and one vanilla) were kind of dead to begin with: very dry, something tasting like plaster inside the chocolate. Add on top of that the TASTELESS frosting, it explains why neither one of us could finish the darn things. Without 100 oz milk to wash it down, couldn't get through one of them. So I threw away 3/4ths of quite an expensive cupcake, and considered it a lesson learned. Call me when your cupcakes taste better!

Since the reviews on here are really disagreeing with each other, it seems sort of hit or miss. If you'e on the fence, I say give the cupcakes a try, but don't say I-told-you-so if the one-stars happen to be right.

The best Cupcake ever!!. This cupcake was so moist, and the right size... I do not believe it was over priced... I was a very happy customer!!!!

Must Try. These cupcakes are huge, rich, and well-priced. They're a little messy, but completely worth the crumbs. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and red velvet cupcakes are mixed and matched with equally as delectable icing flavors. If you're wandering around Soco, give this place a shot!

I really want to like it :-(. I'm sorry, Hey Cupcake. I want to join in on the hype and talk about how wonderful your cupcakes are, but I can't. I appreciate the former employee's comment about the buttercream recipe, as well as the fact that they don't use shortening. At the same time, I can't help but wonder why the frosting tastes a little off. I know compared to someone who actually makes cupcakes for a living, I probably appear ignorant, but one of my hobbies is trying cupcakes at different bakeries all over the US. I had not found any cupcake shops that really stick out in Austin, so I was hoping Hey Cupcake would change that. I love that you make the cupcakes rich (butter=love), but the flavor of the cake is plain bland, and the frosting tastes ordinary. I love all of the marketing efforts. Your trailer is so cute, and I like the TV in your store that's supposed to look like a window to the trailer. Being said, the former employee's comment about going to HEB or getting Duncan Hines if some of us think it's better- we think it tastes better, we don't want that to fulfill our craving for truly amazing cupcakes! Thank you for opening up a store completely devoted to cupcakes, but I really hope you reconsider the recipe you're using so you would appeal to more of us cupcake lovers.

i used to work here. I used to work at Hey Cupcake as a baker. I usually worked the ovens and made the batches of frosting that everyone seems to have a problem with. Yes, the frosting is a bit sweet, but it's all real. There is absolutely NO SHORTENING ; just all butter. It's a standard American Buttercream recipe. For everyone who thinks that Duncan Hines or HEB is better, go right ahead and go buy that crap. All you'll be doing is stuffing your mouths with preservatives, chemicals and low-quality ingredients. And then you complain about shortening being used. HA! Go read the labels on your duncan hines cake boxes.

Overpriced, low quality cupcake. Cupcakes were dry and crumbly. Frosting was too sweet. More focus on making the cupcakes look pretty vs. tasting good.

Good and Great cupcakes. I can see why there are some mized reviews here. After eyeing the airstream for some time we finally tried out Hey Cupcake with some visiting friends (whom we'd experienced cupcake bliss in Portland) so this was highly anticipated. Between the 5 of us we tried 7-8 different cupcakes.

All of us liked the standard cup cakes but found them a little dry and just basic. Nothing special.

Now the specialty cupcakes for a meere $.50 more and you have some of the buest cupcake sin town. The Michael Jackson with chunks of chocolate in the cake...wow. And the carrot cupcake...amazing. Rivals my favorite St Cupcake in Portland. Have to say the lightly browned edges were superb.

Stick tot he special cakes and you will not be disappointed.
