view & uploadHorrible Promotion. I am very disappointed with this place. Whoever the promoters are need to be shot. First of all we bought VIP tickets for almost $80 and when we got there we were informed that there was no VIP and no free drink. Okay fine, we love John Digweed enough to put up with that. I just looked at my bank account. They charged our credit card $50 MORE than what we had for drinks!! We are going to try and contact someone about this but I am sure because they are so shady we will get no help.
retraction of review. Since making the previous post, I have spoken with Eli of Sky Lounge who assures me that the incident will be handled harshly.
Sky is the where the music is at.. Don't be fooled by these people with the bad comments. Skylounge is the place to be for good dirty house, minimal, tech, trance in all of Austin or in Texas for that matter. Mostly all the dj's are exceptional. They play the newest stuff alot of stuff that isn't released on juno yet. Plus they have world class dj's that are trendy. Sorry, no Paul Oakenfold here but new dj's like M.A.N.D.Y. , Sandra Collins, etc... The chicks are also hot and the bartenders are good. Every place has a cover charge now. Lastely the only bad thing about this place is the management. The guy walks around like with a grumpy look on his face. Go on a Saturday night when there is a guest dj. You won't regret it....
CLOSED. Sky longe is CLOSED. they now call it Spin 316 but dont have a website up yet. HOPE is will be as good or better then Sky.
This West Coast-style dance club has many spaces where young professionals meet, dance and mingle under one roof..
In Short
A red carpet leads young professionals who like to dance to the neoclassic foyer. The club's focal point is the dance floor, a former atrium with gleaming iron beams. The Cirrus Room, a members-only, late-night area, is accessed by an elevator. The lobby-style lounge overlooks Congress Avenue with art deco, bank-style chandeliers over tall tables near the bar. A cozy balcony has a view of another, even larger bar toward the rear of the club.
User review by texastexas. had said they were no cover, went several weeks and they had cover, first time i went on weekend without cover it seemed like a small party at someone's house, not many people, walked out quickly
Don't be fooled.....
Sky Lounge is a decent dance club but if you are going to one of their special DJ events hosted by Disco Productions don't be fooled into buying a VIP ticket. Myself and several friends have purchased VIP tickets for a couple of their shows (most recently Derrick Carter) and have not received any of the promised perks. I don't know if its a problem with the promoter or the venue though. When I tried to address the problem with a person who was supposedly a manager, he said he would look into it but never got back to me.
Despite those problems, I would go back for future events but I would pay the regular ticket price. The bartenders were great and the drinks was good for the price. I've been on regular non-event nights and the music was great and the service was good as well.
Sky lounge rocks!. Best dance club i experienced ever! beautiful place to hang out and party and it's all with no cover! if you have somebody from out of town and you want to take him out, sky lounge is the place to go!!!
This place is horrible!!. I used to go here with all my friends back in the day and it was awesome. Crowd was good looking, staff was good looking, management knew what they were doing, it was the place to be. NOW.....it is full of trashy looking people that dress up to make themselves feel cool, half the staff is good lookin the other half looks like they just stepped off the street, and the management doesn't know what they are doing. They walk around looking confused, obviously not caring anything about the place which is one reason the place is always dead. What kind of person wants to hang out at a bar where even the management doesn't care? The place is a trainwreck...goin downhill fast.
Awesome Experience. They have some of the cheapest and BEST drinks in the Warehouse District. I had seen on here that one guy had recommended to ask for Cindy or Cory, so I took his advice...they both made me feel like they have known me forever. Was a stroke of luck they were working together that night I believe. It didn't get crowded until around midnight, but it seemed as those the flood gates opened and people started pouring in. The crowd of people I was with, myself included had a great time. Awesome music..dance music seems to played later in the night, awesome drinks......awesome service and atmosphere. Definately check this place out...but like I said..the crowd is a later one.
