2 Star Rating: Below Average

Oh man what a let down! Initially, I thought the premise here was going to be original and conceptually terrifying; being awake during a surgery! Yikes! But in reality, the title "Awake" seems only a subliminal suggestion to keep the audience from drifting off. The periodic suspense ranges from melodramatic to anti-climatic and is never actually scary. In fact, it's occasionally laughable. I'm not kidding; I could see this movie as source material for a parody like MST3K. For those looking for a plot like this that actually works, check out "Breakdown", an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

The ads made this look scary, and i guess it is, but it's more exciting and visceral than something that's going to make me jump in the dark when i'm home later. it's more of a mystery. I just loved it. Fast, fun, and I completely didn't see the surprises coming. And Hayden is adorable!

Pros: Surprises galore

Cons: A bit too short!
