Editorial Review for Gypsy Italian Bistro – by Joshua Hinsdale

In Short
With just 18 tables tucked into the dining room, the restaurant offers a small and warm ambience. Guests nosh on spaghetti in white wine clam sauce, pork chops with cranberry and fried ravioli matched with suitable fine wines. Neutral-colored walls, highlighted by a wooden bar and crimson accents, give way to a sizeable rough rock wall in the back. A stone staircase winds past trickling water to an outdoor patio upstairs behind the restaurant.

I don't know where to start. My meal started out with the Bruschette which far surpassed my expectations. Having lived in Europe for years, I didn't expect this to be so authentic. The caprese salad was also... perfection! Fresh and delicious. I tried the Piccata al Limone and the tastes were wonderful togther. I was fortuneate to taste my friends Veal Scallopni which was so tender and tasty I thought I had gone to heaven. After this wonderful meal I had to try the desset. The tiramisu took me back to Italy. I couldn't believe to find this taste here in the US. The atmosphere was peaceful and unrushed. I loved everything about the Gypsy. This is a wonderful find.

Pros: Unrushed, friendly staff, great choices (Tiramisu hmmmm)

Cons: Outside of building does not do this restaurant justice.

Whatever kinks existed in the service previously, have been worked out. My boyfriend and I went on a Tuesday night. It was far from crowded but was very attractive place for dining. the stone wall, linen covered tables, and soft light were all perfect. The waiter was very attentive, almost too much so and the chef came out to ask how we enjoyed the meal. our glasses were never empty and we were well attended to. We didn't order an appetizer, we ordered the gypsy salad; he had the pork chops which were absolutely delicious bursting with flavor and extremely moist. I had the pasta primavera with chicken. While it was tasty, it paled in comparison to the pork chops. he enjoyed the wine, i had their version of a mojito which was good but i let it sit for a few minutes first to let the flavors blend. I almost missed the place because on the outside it didn't look like what i expected (i thought the outside would look a little nicer but inside is beautiful.
