What People Are Saying About El Greco

In Short – Adorned in basic black and white decor, this small family restaurant caters to its University neighbors and Austin's Greek community. An expansive menu built around Konstantinidis family recipes includes the basics such as Greek salads, dips, pork and lamb dishes, dolmas and other treats. Finicky diners can opt for a cheeseburger or veggie sandwich but can still be convinced to try the homemade desserts. Baklava, custards and rice puddings are prepared fresh daily.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- Stop by early for a Greek twist on breakfast tacos: doughy pockets filled with combinations of feta, spinach, eggs and potatoes.
- The Extras:
- Coming down with a cold? Pick up an order of the avgolemono, a Greek chicken soup flavored with rice, egg and lemon.
- Parking:
- In the evenings, free parking can usually be found in the garage behind the restaurant on San Antonio Street.
- Fun Fact:
- Owner Jake Konstantinidis, who graduated from the Texas Culinary Academy, opened the restaurant in January 2008 with his mother Athina Konstantinidis and aunt Kiki Vasiliadou.
Overpriced and Bad Service!

I went to this restaurant and we were the only people there and the service was terrible. On top of that, the food was way overpriced. I would not recommend this restaurant.

The best authentic Greek food in Austin
by LMaze at Citysearch
This is the best place to get truly authentic Greek food in Austin. I went to Greece about a year and a half ago. When I came back, I was missing Greek food and someone told me about El Greco. I thought I was back in Greece! Wonderful food and nice people.
- Pros: Delicious Food, Nice staff
- Cons: Not facing Guadalup Street
