The Original Brooklyn Pie Co. delivers on its name..
Having just moved to Austin from Brooklyn, NY I doubted I'd find anything close to NYC pizza. My 1st attempt with Austin's Pizza confirmed my fear. It was OK but a far cry from the real thing.
When living in NY, I used Citysearch extensively so before ordering another pie, I went there. I was amazed to see that the Austin's Pizza I used earned 4 1/2 stars. However, while looking for another restaurant my jaw dropped when I read that Domino's, Pizza Hut & Papa John's Pizza earned 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 stars. That pretty much put Austin's pizza eating public in perspective.
If I can't trust the ratings than I?ve got to trust the name & my next pie was delivered by The Original Brooklyn Pie Co. The pie arrived in about 15 minutes and was piping hot. Although I didn't request it, there were generous packets of hot pepper and parmesan cheese.
It didn't take more than a bite to conclude that my search for NYC pizza in Austin has ended: The Original Brooklyn Pie Co. is aptly named as their pie lives up to their name.
Now if someone from Brooklyn can tell me where to find a bagel in Austin, I'd be in heaven.…
In the vast wasteland of bad Austin Pizza, Brooklyn is a very good choice for a pizza pie..
Pizza in Austin stinks, I mean Gartti's, Mangia, Austin, the major chains like Pixxa Hut or Ceasars...these places are all just terrible. So bad that I get sick after eating (my stomach hates
fillers, preservatives, fake food).
After living all across the West Coast and eating great pizza there and in places like NY and Chicago...I know pizza well and Austin has few and far in between.
Brooklyn so far is my favorite, with a very good pizza crust and sauce and excellent toppings. The pizza choices are almost endless. Although the balance of the menu is limited, do you really need more than a pie and salad? If you do they offer up genuine Carnigie Deli cheesecake, which is the best New York cheesecake on the planet (the place is an institution in NY!).
It is not the cheapest pizza in town but that is what happens when they use real cheese and toppings.
We love it and get a pie once every 2 weeks and will continue to do so.
FYI the location is lacking in charm but again I have never knocked a pizza place for it's location.
Staff is always friendly but make sure if you order something beside pie that they get it for you (they tend to forget to give you the salad etc if it is in the fridge and youa re picking up).…
