Taurus Metric is not what it ONCE was....
I am sadden to see how much Taurus Metric has changed over the years, their quality of care and attention to pups has decreased, while their appetite for money has increased. I was not surprised to see how many others agreed in their reviews, especially regarding the metric location. From their high staff turn-over to their ever increasing fees this once "mom & pop shop" has become just another money driven corporation it is obvious that their priorities have shifted.
I agree with Amber R's post from 9/12/11 on Yelp -
Kelly WAS awesome - it's a shame they let her go, she was the best Manager Taurus Metric ever had. Just another example of the changes happening there. Customer Service is no longer a priority, and if they treat their clients the way they treat their employees, it makes you wonder how the pups are cared for....
My pups deserve better. The one star is for the fond memories of what Taurus ONCE was
Will not be going back.
We took my older dog there, and she seemed to like it. Then, we got a new puppy & stopped taking her until he was about 6 mos old. He got very ill and even had to be hospitalized overnight. It sounds like they waited longer than they should have to call me and/or take him to the vet next door.
He has not had such an episode before or since, and he was kenneled with his 'sister' when it happened (she was freaked out that day, too). After several expensive vet bills, they could never figure out what was wrong with him...I can only think it was a coincidence (that's why I didn't just do one star, but it does seem suspicious he's never had it before or since then, which was a few mos ago). I do worry that there was some head trauma or something that they were too afraid to report, so instead we did several tox panels, and it was very traumatic for us, but luckily he is happy at home now; we just keep him in the kitchen w/ his 'sister' all day. I've heard good things about another location, but I will never go back to Taurus Metric, especially after reading the other reviews, and we are calling to get a refund.
Dogs were injured and sick. I dropped off my 4 dogs for boarding at Taurus. They assured me they would all be kept in seperate kennels and away from all other dogs (they are specially trained in ring sport, and are quite reactive) but when I picked them up, 2 had kennel cough (which is understandble and forgivable) but the other two had clear puncure wonds. They charged me for all 4 kennels but clearly the dogs were not kept apart...fishy.
We stoipped using them after 6 months (5-6 playdays, 3-4 vacations).
We had gone to the Metric location for bout 6 months for the occassional play day but mostly for vacations where we couldn't watch out lab. She's 3, loves people, dogs and playing; a wonderful dog. The last few times we went she reacted kind of funny when we were dropping her off, she wouldn't leave my side. The last visit she had her tail tucked and ran for the front door to escape with me...and this dog has always loved doggie day care in the past but obviously was freaking out. She still seemed a little amped when we picked her up too. We tried someplace new and she LOVES it - happy to go and exhausted to come home.
My guess is she spent too much time in the crate at Taurus or may be an individual there which seem highly unlikely as they have always been nice.
Anyway, my dog now can roam all day, loves the place and staff and it's cheaper too (just drive 3 more miles). Sorry to say we won't be back to Taurus but the dog knows.
