One of the best restaurants in Austin & located in the middle of the action on 6th street. Parkside is known for its oysters, happy hour, delicious food, and awesome rooftop deck view
With a daily happy hour running from 5-6:30, and abundant breeds of oysters, this place is a first date must! Don't let the location fool you, this place is high class on dirty 6th.
The seared salmon comes highly recommended as does the oyster platter.
Fantastic food and drinks, close to action of 6th Street – Our party of 10 enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with oysters and drinks. We chatted with a employee while he prepared crab legs and our server was equally friendly. We were presented with 2 large platters of calamari compliments of the chef. We ordered parsnip ravioli, butternut squash soup, roasted chicken, pork shoulder, asparagus, sweet potatoes, burgers and more. Everything was delicious and all of the orders were filled without issues. Gratuity was added to the check due to our large party and the server made sure we were aware so we didn't re-tip. This is a great location, not a far walk from all of the action on 6th street. Will definitely be returning.
Consistently great!! – My husband and I have to been to Parkside 4-5 times now and have had amazing food every time. We have also recommended the place to several friends and they all rave about it as well. We particularly love the selection of oysters and ceviches. The salmon, peach, and mint ceviche is the best!! The waitstaff is also top notch and has enhanced every dining experience we've had there. Check it out if you haven't been! The new outdoor patio on the top is great!
Rip Off! – I heard a lot of good things about this place, but what from I can gather, it has gone down hill. This review is for the two times I have gone there. I went to Parkside last week and started off with some really sorry overcooked calamari. On top of that the tri tip steak I had was a little tuff. The other time I went there I had tried the okra and had a few beers. The okra was awesome, but service was very lacking. I had to wait way to long just to get a beer. I would expect more for what I paid at this place! .
FIGHT WITH MY DOLLAR – TO THE OWNERS: Never stepped foot in your establishment, and I will be sure to never pass your threshold now. I am a regular at the BEST WURST Hot Dog cart, and will continue to be even if they are not on your front sidewalk. I am appalled at your utter disrespect for entrepreneurship and sense of community. Shame on you. If you think your actions are warranted, move to Dallas where the rest of the restaurants like you are: cold, barren, and soul-less.
It's a Pass – Mediocre food at best, and overpriced.
ARE YOU KIDDING? – TO THE OWNERS: I used to be a semi regular here but no more, because I am a regular at BEST WURST Hot Dog cart. Yes, an overhead balcony sounds nice, BUT YOU PEOPLE DON'T NEED A SIDEWALK CAFE!!! Your GREEDY disrespect for tradition and well established neighbors leave me cold. My regular friends crowd is no longer patronizing your place and I have asked them to email their friends to boycott you as well. Good Riddance.
Great food in the heart of downtown – Located in the heart of Sixth Street, this place offers a bit of relief from the mayhem often found downtown at night. Upbeat music and dim lighting set the mood for this cozy restaurant. They have several rooms, including a private room for parties and an outdoor terrace upstairs overlooking the street. The walls are exposed brick, the booths cushy and the atmosphere easy-going.
The diverse menu doesn't always explain everything, but you can be sure the waiters have the answers you're looking for. The service is tip-top, with friendly, enthusiastic and efficient waiters.
There is a wide variety of food from which to choose, from the raw bar to burgers to chicken. You can basically guarantee something for everyone at this place. The food is all delicious, but the prices don't accurately reflect the portion sizes.
Awesome Austin! – I was in Austin on business last week and all my co-workers were talking
about this restaurant called Parkside. We figured we ought try it out and I
am so glad we did! Their wet bar is fabulous and has drinks that range from
an ideal after work cocktail to an unbelievable wine/meal combination. I
don't eat red meat so I was thrilled to see the extensive salad menu that
accompanies an out of this world seafood selection! I had the grilled
snapper and parmesan asparagus with an unbeatable glass of white bordeaux.
One of my friends had the marrow bones and loved them! She wouldn't even
share! After the amazing dinner that we had there was no room to even look
at desserts-- scared that we wouldn't be able to resist. Luckily, our
server was extremely kind and doting. It just topped off the whole
experience. So, if you are ever in Austin-- even for one night-- go to
Parkside. I know I will be back!
Freezerburn calamari, spoiled meat cheeseburger – A good friend wanted to go to dinner as we were both returning to North Austin from business. He mentioned Parkside restaurant, so I agreed although I never had been there.
Nice waitress, polite. I ordered the calamari and a cheeseburger with fries. My friend ordered a chicken dinner with potatoes that were a little undercooked.
To make my point, the calamari had an odd taste. I asked my friend to taste it, and he is a server at a high end restaurant, so he immediately tasted something weird. It was freezer burn on the calamari. The server came back, and I told her I did not care for the calamari.
She notifed the manager, who probably needs to learn something about this business. He came and asked me if the waitress got the wrong order. I quietly, and politely told him she got the correct order, but the calamari had freezer burn. I even asked him if he wanted to taste it. He did not. He then asked if he could offer another appetizer but I politely told him no. I thought he was going to take the calamari off the bill. I then get the cheeseburger, which by the way we received everything right around an hour of time. Keep in mind there were max maybe 15 total people in the restaurant, as it was very slow on a Wednesday.
Have you ever had ground beef in a refrigerator where it starts getting grey on the outside but the inside is halfway still ok? Uh huh, you know what that tastes like right? You got it. Spoiled meat is very gross. I left it on the plate and the server picked it up. I asked my friend to smell it, and he immediately knew the smell. When my friend and I left, as we went back to the car we talked so much that I forgot to look at the bill I paid for. These shameful, disgraceful people didnt take anything off the bill. I had to pay for freezer burn calamari and spoiled beef on the cheeseburger. Eat at your own risk, this place I will never go back to.
