Over charged tip on my credit card. We had paid in cash all night & tipped well, when we ran out of cash we used our credit card & only tipped $1 on a $28 charge (again we tipped in cash all night also) I guess that made them mad, they over charged my credit card on the tip. I disputed w/ my credit card & it was taken off. That's fact, now my suspicions. 2 weeks later a $489 charge to an online GAP merchant shows up on my card. I turn off the card call the company stop the shipment. It was made in my husbands name, it was his card we used that night, they had the expiration & CVC code & our addressfor billing (it was shipped to a different address), but guess what if you Google Address Search & put his name in BAM there is our address. Be careful if you go there only use cash.

HORRIBLE!. This bar is horrible. The people that go there are obnoxious and the staff is even worse. The music is horrible. The drinks were weak and the beer tasted like it had been in the cooler for 5 years. Old and dingy. Hands down the worst bar on the street. Try Molotov, the people are nicer. Try Annies, the drinks are better and the music is awesome. Try JBlacks, the food is great. Just don't waste your time at The Ranch.

The Ranch is a great bar! The other posts must have been from competition without brains. Wow I read the other reviews and wanted to add some truth to this review section. The Ranch is actually one of the nicest bars on 6th. I have always received the best service and their drinks have never let us down. The area is easily accessible and they offer valet! Ignore the other comments since someone obviously thought they were clever enough to make up reviews that falsify the crowd and atmosphere althogether!

Bartender problems......... I was visiting the bar on 10/17/08 and had a very bad experience with a bartender. A male bartender asked me for a bigger tip after I had given him a tip. The bartender told me I was cheap and that he only makes $2.00 an hour and I should leave more. I informed the manager on duty of the situation and he spoke withe bartender. The bartender is still employed as of today.

Watch your money is this expensive bar. It's a very fun atmosphere but mgmt. is questionable after keeping the bartender on the payroll.

Bob Woody? . . .Here we go again.. Everyday I looked forward to enjoying W 6th St during happy hour at JBlacks. Relaxed. Chill. Genuine.

The people were classy, the conversation was genuine and most of all, there was a group that i could relate to and enjoy my off time with.

Then came The Ranch (sigh). Bob Woody, the so- called "Mayor" of 6th ST., and his ego had moved down yonder to the safe haven of W. 6th.

At first it wasn't so bad and there was some hope that it would remain cool and collect. However, i soon found out that you can take something beautiful and completely destroy it without a care in the world. It turned from calm to loud and then obscene. From classy to trashy and from pleasurable to near nauseating. The trash that litters the front curb was never that bad before and the fights that ensue every single week (invoked by the bouncers pulled straight from the various other "Woody" bars such as the "Blind Pig" and the "Dizzy Rooster") just made the night worse. OH, and the people that frequent The Ranch are complete BOB "WOODIOTS."

This "Special" crowd is pulled straight from the worst part of 6th St. and placed into what could have been the best part

These idiots are "lifers."

Bob Woody could care less about his neighbors or the welfare of his patrons (just drive by during the weekends and see the sea of people just stumbling in almost every lane trying to hail a cab).

After ripping off the name off an "established" and "respected" restaurant just a block away (Ranch 616), he is successfully alienating the bars around him who actually care about those that come in to chill and actually relax.

Unfortunately, my friends and I have decided to never go back.

P.S.

Those cocktails may have been hired for their busts, but definitely not for drink execution.

Go to the Ranch. I absolutely LOVE this place. I love it almost as much as I love my Affliction shirt. Im not even sure what Affliction means but I do know that I rock that shirt hard. I love how it has a V-neck. I love that there are spirally dragons all over it. I love that the V-neck perfectly shows off my awesomely shaved chest. I love how the sleeves are short enough to show off how I shave my arms all the way up to my shoulders. God I love that $80 V-neck t-shirt. What a great purchase, and what a perfect shirt to wear to the Ranch. The best part about the Ranch is how they rock music that I havent heard since I was in highschool. There should always be room for songs from the Night at the Roxbury soundtrack. Where other line can you wait in for 45 minutes to get in and not mind at all because all you can smell is the sweet, sweet aroma of AXE body spray? If there is a line to stand in like that to buy two jagerbombs and a heinekein, I sure havent found it. I wish I could type more, but I need to do 1,000 crunches, some squats, some curls, style my hair, get a mani/pedi, and shave every hair that is less than two inches long. If you feel like me you will absolutely love this place.

Fab outdoor Patio. Love the "fan-conditioned" patio on hot summer nights - crowd is generally chill & diverse, quick service at the bar - was not a big fan of the Buffalo Burger but really like the quesadillas - like to go for early happy hour on Fridays.

Thursdays at The Ranch is a great time!. I have always went to this bar on Fridays and Saturdays when it was packed and a great time! But I recently went on a Thursday and had the best time I have had in a long time! The outdoor patio is huge and the people and good service made for a chilled, cool atmosphere. Being there for a late happy hour and then watching the night crowd and talent come in makes for great people watching. We watched the Olympics on the numerous Big Screens and had a great time. I will def be back for Football season!

Home Sweet Home on the Range. I know this place gets crowded on weekends but only because it's the place to be! It is definitely different than your normal trendy Austin hotspot - and by different, I mean better. The decor has a unique "Texan" feel to it that gives the place a more relaxed atmosphere than a club. And the newly opened outside patio is really cool with all the heavy wood tables and outside bar - so you don't have to head back inside to get a drink. I just really like what they've done with the place - they created a chill bar that isn't the same cookie-cutter place like most of the other bars on West 6th. AND all the flat-screen TV's are going to be awesome during football season - especially since there aren't a great many sports bars in Austin. So if you're looking for something a little different, head to The Ranch!
