What People Are Saying About Beso Cantina

In Short – This Warehouse District bar, named for the Spanish word for kiss, embodies the Romance language's sexy attitude. Swathed in crimson, the interior is spiced up with iron sculptures, mirrors and a raised dance floor, typically riddled with hot bodies, immediately inside the front door. On busy nights, the upstairs bar and lounge area opens, providing another, occasionally quieter, area for revelers. Grab a drink (expect the usual beer and liquor selection) and enjoy the live DJ set.

Beso is a great place to chill...

by Jrobinson15 at Citysearch

Beso is a great place to chill. Friendly staff. Good people. Affordable drinks. I wish I could have seen "TiffanieOu's " hair catch on fire at 1:58am. That probalby would have made my night. Round of Shots $21. Cab ride home. $24 Watching a drunk bitchy lush catch her own hair on fire at the end of the night. Priceless.....

WORST EXPERIENCE

by TiffanieOu at Citysearch

I don't even think they deserve a 1 star. I went there last night and received horrible service from the bartender as she gave me my order wrong and responded with "it's either you accept these drinks since you only have 2 minutes on the clock or you don't take them." Me, considering that I have been a bartender for 5 years, am pretty sure that I told her my order correctly. Either way, she was not willing to fix it for me, it was either take it or leave it.

To make the situation look worst, MY HAIR CAUGHT ON FIRE with a candle that was sitting at the bar when I was trying to order drinks. NONE of the bartenders asked me for help, or anything. NONE. I had to put it out myself! Everybody was looking at me, shocked. And the people that didn't see, asked "do you smell that? It smells like something is burning? I told the workers to get them the manager now and all he could say was "What do you want for me? It's not my fault your hair caught on fire. You can either take your free shots now or you can get out." WHAT?!!!!! It is MY fault that my hair caught on fire?! How the heck do they manage this place here????

I left pissed and angry. They didn't even try to console me or anything, they were just wanting that I take some free drinks and get out, after there was a freaking flame on the side of my head. WORST PLACE, WORST SERVICE, WORST MANAGEMENT. DO NOT GO TO BESO. Enough said.

Best UP and COMING Joint in Town

by socialbutterfly74 at Citysearch

Personally, I love a place I can walk into, alone OR with a group of friends and ALWAYS get a hug and an inviting smile from the folks that own and operate the place!! Literally, the owners are ALWAYS there to give the royal treatment to anyone and everyone that walks in the door. The music is always going and drinks-a-flowing. EVEN the bathrooms are freaking inviting with FRESH flowers, fresh flowers in a bar?? Heck yeah!! Oh and because those guys are so silly and creative, make sure you grab yourself a squirt of the AQUA NET as you stare at yourself in the full length mirror, gotta love the smell of "fresh from the 80's" Aqua Net!!! For those of you that don't know what the word 'BESO' means .... it means "Kiss" and for those of us that like to do so, just head for the stairs - a camera is always ready - or at least when I am there!! Another selling point, the hooks under the bar - who doesn't LOVE the ability to hang their purse/jacket and not worry about it getting kicked around on the floor - JUST DON"T FORGET IT. That's your own fault - I'M JUST SAY'N!!!! When the DJ is there he plays what you ask and he does so with a genuine smile!! SO WHAT if there is not a sign outside the building!! It takes just one fabulous experience and the memory of it will lead you back again and again!! The address: 307B W 5th St - Just keep your eyes open for the smiling door guys in the suits - how the heck can you miss that??? I have worked in the service industry AND the corporate world, I know what good service is and I know when I am out of the office and ready to have the ROYAL treatment - BESO's is where I am headed!! I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

That is my story and I am sticking to it!!

Peace - Love - Happiness

  • Pros: Never disappointed
  • Cons: Can't get enough

Sexiest Bar Ever!

by McFizzy at Citysearch

Beso is definitely my favorite downtown bar. It's far enough away from East 6th to eliminate the riff-raff, but not uppity either. The decor is beautiful...dark red and wrought-iron with lots of candles. In case you didn't know, ladies--we all look better under red lights! They have live music often, and the bands are usually pretty good. The dj's, on the other hand, are always amazing. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and there's always plenty of bar staff, so you almost never find yourself standing in line like a douche.

  • Pros: Strong drinks, pretty people.
  • Cons: They don't have a damn sign! Finding it's a challenge.

Bad Crowd

by LittleMissB at Citysearch

I am a downtown regular, at least 2 times per week, and I've been to Beso several times this summer because friends have wanted to check it out. There is no sign on the outside of the building, so just look for it next to Cattle Company. The place is beautiful but the crowd is less than so. It seems to be the same people every time-- mid-20's and average looking. I was probably there 5 times between late May and early August, and I saw the place "busy" only once. It's usually pretty empty, but the plus is you never have trouble getting a less-than-stellar bartender's attention. The drinks are good and fairly inexpensive. If you are looking for a low-key place to get a quick drink, this is it. If you are looking to mingle with a chic and interesting crowd, I would suggest venturing farther down fifth.

  • Pros: Easy to get a drink. Reasonable Prices. Romantic interior.
  • Cons: A Not-so-hot spot.
