Austin >HK Auto Service
THE BEST MECHANIC SHOP IN AUSTIN!. Great experience, personable, honest, quality work done in a timely manner and came in at the exact dollar amount they quoted me!
NO PRESSURE, GREAT WORK!!!!!.
First, the owner Jason took me to Barnes and Noble right around the corner while they worked on my car. I was very happy about that to start, then to make my long story short I had recently replaced an oxygen sensor at another shop twice with the light coming right back on. These guys diagnosed the problem, told me that I really needed a dealer oxygen sensor because the resistance on after markets were not right, I expected them to then kill me with the price, to my shock HK Auto sold me an O2 sensor from the Honda dealership for $40 less than the first shop sold me a "Bosch" O2 sensor. This made it painfully obvious that I had really been taken at shop "A" but they were nice about taking my money so I won't mention their name, and shop "B" HK Auto not only got it right, I passed inspection the next week after putting some miles on my car the light has remained off. I was in and out in two hours with my problem actually repaired at a cheaper price while using higher dollar parts.
I will never use anyone else, HK Auto and Jason have earned me and my family's business for life!
The Worst Avoid @ all Cost. Really avoid Hk Auto @ all Costs they claim that they are ASE Certified probably one person in the shop is, with the quality work that comes out of there I doubt that any one there is ASE Certified. Do Not Go to Hk Auto! Because I'll just say I told you so.
Excellent Service without hassle. I replaced the brakes on my car myself and got something wrong so I brought it up to Jason fix my messup. They looked it over and ended up only needing to flush the brake fluid. I was in and out within 30 minutes. They only did the work necessary without being pushy at all. A pleasure to work with and I will use them again.
wow, honest mechanics. looks for cheap fixes. stand by what they say, want repeat business and word of mouth so they treat you right. give 'em a try..
I have taken my car to HK for about a year now. Jason's customer service, honesty and care for me and my car restored my faith in having to find a new shop once I moved here!
I will never take my car anywhere else!
Best Auto Shop in Austin!!!!.
We have been going to HK for a little while now. Both our cars (Hyundai and Toyota) are serviced there and we have never EVER had a problem with anything done.
Jason and Israel offer impeccable customer service and great workmanship at unbeatable prices.
We have sent a few people their way and they never disappointed. All were quoted well over twice what HK ended up charging them which goes to show how honest that shop is.
We have yet to find anyone who can beat their service or/and prices.
Quality Work, Fast at a Great Price.
I contacted Jason after reading his ad on craigslist. I have a 2002 Isuzu Trooper which needed a timing belt, tensioner and water pump. Jason replaced it for $600.00 less than the quote from Lambs Automotive. I brought it in and 4 hours later it was done. I did have a problem with the coolant leaking. Jason took me right away and had Israel (his ace mechanic) fix the problem. It was nothing more than a bad clamp. He replaced the clamp and filled the coolant. 10 minutes later I was back on the road. No charge.
I was so happy with the service I brought my other SUV in for an oil change and fix a flat. Again they took me in right away and was done within a half an hour.
Quality, honesty and fast friendly service. I will recommend my friends take their cars to Jason.
An honest repair shop.
I just moved to Austin in the last month or so, my 94 Dodge Stealth had a bad clutch on the AC compressor and my 2001 F150 developed a "whine" and had the engine light come on while we were hauling the horses out. The thought of forking out a lot of cash for repairing two cars just after moving was chilling, even worse doing it on the cheap and having to redo things or paying for work not really needed.
I decided to start with the stealth since I knew the exact nature of the problem. I called Ben White and while they were very professional I got a long litany of "doing it right" and an estimate of $1500 best case. I took it to Lambs for a 2nd opinion since it was right down the street. I got a $1400 minimum estimate and "it could run to $2,000 or more"...we won't know till we get it open.
In desperation I started searching online and came across the reviews here. I spoke to Jason and explained that the clutch on the compressor was bad but the compressor was fine. While he said a lot of the same things somehow the tone was different. I decided to risk the drive over and am glad I did. While we looked for rebuilt or a compressor from a junk yard it wasn't to be. In the end they put in a brand new OEM compressor and replaced a few additional components (complete with 1 year/12,000 warranty). All for less then $900.
Now I turned to the truck. Again Ben White wanted $89 for diagnostics and Lambs a similar amount (back when I 1st talked to them). Jason doesn't charge for diagnostics so it was an easy choice to make (obviously the experience with the Stealth helped). Israel (great mechanic IMO) pulled the codes for me and told me it was a "lean air" code. This required a bit of trouble shooting and it ended up being the intake gasket....which takes a lot of labor to replace. Based on 1st experience I didn't bother with a "2nd opinion" and gave Jason the go ahead. Israel suggested a tune up as well so the damage out the door was roughly $600. The truck drove great till the next morning...when it started to make a different but similar whine.
Naturally I was a bit tweaked and concerned, to be fair it wasn't the same whine and the thought of another outlay was hard to handle. Jason said to bring it in that afternoon and I did. He got one of the guys to look at it while Israel was out on an errand and we made some generic progress. Once Israel got back he nailed the issue (an "idle motor"??) in 2 minutes and Jason had it fixed at no charge since he felt they would/should have caught it on inspection test drive if it was bad then.
To me this was a separate but related problem and he went above and beyond to be fair with me. No question my cars go nowhere else as long as I live in the Austin area.
In the end to me a trip to the mechanic is no better then a trip to the proctologist, you know your gonna "take it up the ..." finding a shop that will treat you fairly and with respect makes one of life's less pleasurable realities a bit more bearable.
Honest, Fast, Excellent work..
I took my car in after having A/C issues, I took it somewhere else and they took forever just to diagnose it. I was quoted mid $300. I then I came across HK and I decided to take my car in for a second opinion.
I spoke with Jason and my car was diagnosed within the hour(turns out I didnt need what other shop said I needed) It ended up costing me around $115 with labor. and I had it by noon the same day. The honesty factor alone has me coming back to this shop and the fact that Jason employs great mechanics is all the better. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who values 100% honesty and top notch work.
Most of these bad reviews seem crazy. For instance, one person claims they aren't ASE certified . These people just make up garbage and post it (get educated you fool....see profile picture to see what people think of you and your lying review)
