This 6th Street staple wears several hats. Primarily, this is a live music venue with a two-story view of the stage, and four bars for the drinking set to hold down. Live shows can be mightily packed with fans; good views can be hard to come by and are carefully guarded. The club also boasts an extended residency of longtime (well, since 2007) Austin burlesque/singing troupe, the Southern Sirens, who play most Fridays. Are you kidding me? Aces has been open for how long and I am the first to write a review!!! If you are looking for an upscale live music venue on 6th Street you have just found it. Aces is definitely Aces in my book. The sound system is amazing as is the atmosphere. What a brilliant idea to put the stage above the main bar. The bands that play are on par with other live music venues in Austin, but I would prefer to see them at Aces if given the choice. I just love this bar.

Fun Fact:
While this place is known for booking classic, cool, and cutting-edge hip-hop and reggae shows, the owner took a controversial stance and declined booking Jamaican artist Buju Banton after groups protested the singer's homophobic lyrics.
The Extras:
This is a place to watch football games--particularly UT football--and soak in burnt-orange colored after-parties each Saturday night following the game.
When to Go:
Country fans can two-step on in on Texas Tuesdays, which features live music from local and/or C&W artists.
