Best cut and color here or anywhere!. I am so thrilled I found Wild Orchid Salon! It's located on a quiet street in downtown Austin. (with plenty of parking!) Ana is my stylist, and she is never hurried, always listens to what I want, and also has ideas on what color and style would work best for me. I've always considered myself an "au naturale" girl, but after having Ana color my hair once, I've been back every couple months because she makes me look so good! Everyone that works in the salon is so friendly, you are always included in conversations, gossip, and I have to mention Meshelle's cooking skills. The last two times I have been there Meshelle had brought treats she had baked and they were dee-lish. I cannot imagine going anywhere else. Do yourself a tremendous favor and get your booty down there! (By the way, they also cut my six year old daughter's hair, and she also loves going down there and getting her hair washed "in the big bowl" They are great with kids!)
I have found the ONE for me!. I've been to many different salons and just couldn't quite find the right place or person for that matter. When I mean I couldn't find the right "place" I mean every salon I went to was always rushed. I didn't seem to feel quite comfortable. I just want one person working on my hair, ONE! I don't want to be tossled around from one person to get my hair colored/highlighted then another person to cut and at times another person to blowdry my hair. I am paying GOOD money for these services and I want ONE person to work on me. I don't want to feel like I'm in an assembly line. It doesn't take a village to do my hair, only ONE person. Aveda salons always offer these extra amenities which is nice but doesn't mean anything if the person doing your hair doesn't listen. I always thought going to fancy salons that the stylists would be educated but to my experiences this is not the case. I'm not knocking ALL stylists, I was just not fortunate to be placed, shoved, moved or rescheduled with any of them as I have also experienced in the higher end salons. The notion of having products shoved in my face EVERY single time after the service at the front desk from ANY salon is annoying as well. I know what I need for my hair and I know when I need to buy them. I only trust the hairdresser doing my hair to educate me on what's good for my style. Which comes to the second part of my introduction referring to not finding the "person". Well, I found the ONE at Wild Orchid Salon downtown. It's a small salon downtown and is not a chain salon which fits in with the Austin vibe of "support local businesses". Meshelle does my hair there and I feel comfortable with her. She LISTENS to my needs and tells me what works and what doesn't for my hair. She takes her time with me and she does ALL my services. I even pre-booked my next appointment with her which I NEVER used to at any other salon!
Cutest Salon in Austin. This is the cutest salon I've been to in Austin. There are only a few chairs and the staff is really friendly and helpful. I first came in to take advantage of the haircut happy hour that they have during the week and now I'm hooked. Ana is great. She really listened when I told her what I wanted and I'm loving my cut. I can't wait to go back for color! This place is great.
