great place for price!. I recently stayed 3 weeks at the Suburban, I had a very pleasant experience, not only was the price right but the location in South Austin was great for dining and vintage clothes shopping. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are basic with no thrills , but isn't that what your looking for in a extended stay?? I noticed during my stay that they are renovating all the rooms and updating the interior. If your expecting the Hyatt, it is not, but it is a comfortable economical alternative.

WARNING!!! Suburban lodge south austin is no longer a good place to stay for the value. About a year ago i stay'd at suburban lodge and it was nice but it has changed. The first room i was in had torn and worn furniture, the boarding was loose in bathroom, the comforter on bed had cig. holes, the toilet was stained with blue stuff and the room smelled like urine. There was also stains on wall. I requested another room and Was given a slightly better room, the remote would not work and when i called to the front desk to try and get the remote reset, i found that the phone was not working and the toilet stain was worse then the room i was in before, and the outlets/cable wiring was not secure which i think is dangerous, was thinking about calling fire marshal on this place. The hallways had trash, The trash cans was overfilled and some trash was laying on ground next to trash can as if it had not been thrown out in a while, i almost got stuck in half working elevator and it was basically very neglected with trash on floor and elevator door was dirty. There are many other hotels in the area that i feel would have been a better stay for my $72.00 but I have learned the hard way not to go there anymore, only reason why i went there in the first place was cause i remembered my stay about a year ago but sad to say, i would no longer let my dog stay there.

Avoid !!!!!!!!!!. In all the years of my travels, both in the US and internationally, I have never been treated so rudely. After walking in and finding Albert (or Jose - he said he's called both) on the phone, I waited patiently for several minutes without him putting the person on hold or even acknowledging I was there. I pointed to a sign on the wall and quietly asked if those were the rates. He did not respond or even acknowledge that I asked a question. After a couple more minutes, as I was considering just leaving, I asked him if he could just write down the lowest rate. After not responding again, he then hung up the phone and began to lecture me about how he was with a customer and how I shouldn't interrupt him. He then had the gall to lie to my face and tell me I wasn't even there a minute! Thankfully the video camera captured the truth, if it actually works!

He then refused to give me any room rates, or his last name. I became extremely upset, told him that I was the customer and he said "Not tonight!" and told me to leave.

I left a written complaint for the Desk Supervisor, Melisa O. Berron, and hope to hear from her soon. Given the nature demonstrated by this employee, I don't have much belief that he will make sure she gets the notice, or especially that she will get the truth of the entire event.

I have asked that I be provided with the corporate address and US VP of Operations so I may lodge a formal complaint by certified mail with them also. I have never done this, but have never had such a reason to before. For the sake of their business, their reputation, and the future customers that may never show up because of the lack of endorsement from the associations I intend to write to, I've asked them to make the necessary changes so this does not happen again.

I hope no one has to ever experience this kind of thing, and especially not at this place!

Beware. I had a terrible experience at Suburban lodge. I blocked off about 9 rooms for a wedding and clearly stated who would be in each room and what day they would check in. However, that was too hard for the staff at Suburban Lodge to handle. By the time everyone was checked in two people were overcharged and two people hadn't been charged. Three weeks later, we're still trying to work it out with Suburban Lodge. Secondly, the rooms were incompletely furnished. We were missing coffee pots, towels, and pillows. What's more is the rooms weren't even clean! This establishment obviously suffers from bad management. Unless you're planning to buy this place and change it's ways, stay away!
