Last night was my first time to try Torchy's drag location, which was refreshingly less busy than some of the others I've been to -- perhaps because its competing with so many other food joints? Anyway, as usual, The Mr. Pink Taco was my total culinary nirvana, especially since I topped it with ungodly amounts of creamy chipotle sauce.
A little on the pricey side, but their unique menu makes up for it. Fried Avocado & Baja Shrimp totally hit the spot. The MIgas are good to. I could get fat going here too often.
I love Torchy's and am glad that it is expanding. My favorites are the Green Chile Pork and Fried Avocado. Make sure to try the queso. I would like to see more locations.
Everything Under One Tortilla. Torchy's is so wrong, and so right: a fried avocado "dirty style" (covered in queso) is just the tip of this taco heaven iceberg.
My Perfect Migas!. Tried Torchy's for the first time today and it was wonderful. Thank you for making the best migas!
Semi Gourmet. I have tried nearly all of their tacos and find them to be all very good. I enjoy the fresh veggies they grill and use in their taco, only thing I wish they would due to turn their tacos into real gourmet tacos is use something other than what looks to be a commercially bought HEB shelf tortilla. I mean really, the tortilla is the foundation of any taco, respect the tortilla! I have often wondered how much better they would taste on a fresh made tortilla something like how Taco Cabana makes them. Now that's an idea "Torchys Cabana Taco" create this and I will make my 4 stars to a 5.
Good service. Really liked the austin like atmosphere in this joint! You will like the guaco in your taco!!
Absolutely LOVE these tacos!. The Dirty Sanchez and the Trailer Park are my favorite, although lately I've been getting the Ranch Hand alot. The tacos are great, I don't think they are expensive, but I only need one to be full. Love it!
Great, cheap eats.
Green chili pork was outstanding. Great food, really cheap & they don't nickle and dime you on ingredients on breakfast tacos. You choose as many ingredients as you want - taco is the same price.
Only downside - if you are lucky enough to get a parking spot, you have to risk your life backing blindly onto Guadelupe to exist the lot.
Warm, specialty tacos are served all day to hungry foodies and other Austinites at this indoor location near campus..
In Short
For all of the devoted regulars of the little silver taco trailer, the Drag location lets you stand in line inside and eat inside, which is a plus considering the summertime temps in Austin. The menu is standard Torchy's, with specialties like the shredded beef barbacoa-filled Democrat and jalapeno sausage-stuffed Republican, green chili pork taco, figure-friendly fried avocado taco and the addictive green chili queso. Take your food to go or grab a table near the windows for prime people watching on Guadalupe.
