Austin >Auto Dealers > Longhorn Sport Imports
There are a few business that go out of their way to make their customers happy and this dealership is one of those. I bought a car in last December and got a great deal with excellent customer service. I knew I was buying car from a small business and was not expecting such service. We got everything AJ promised even though It wasnt written in the contract. I heard that once a dealer sells you his car, he stops picking up your phone but our experience was very positive.
A review for Longhorn Sport Imports. I recently moved to Temple from Ohio and bought a car from AJ for my wife. At the end of the whole process, I realized that I was one of those really Difficult customers that businesses dont want but AJ dealt me with a lot of patience!!..First I test drove at least 8 sedans at his lot and spend 2 hours to decide what I actually want (I knew I wanted toyota but indecisive between corolla and camry)...He gave me the keys of all cars that i wanted to test drive. That day I left without making a deal but I decide to buy a camry. I tried to negociat the price of 2 camrys on the phone and schedule a mechanic inspection on the weekend. The mechanic inspected one car and gave me a positive report but I renegociated the price based on a few issues with the car. after almost 3 weeks, I was ready to sign the papers and bring my car home. Next day, I got a call from my wife from her office that the car does not start. she was panic!! I called AJ and he took the number and address of my wife's work place. within 45 minutes, he was there and it turned out that my wife left the car with lights on and the battery was drained. He charged the battery and the car was good to go. From the whole story, it looks like that we bought a car from a dealer who works hard to address all the concerns of his customers and thats for me is an excellent service!!
Easy Car buying. easy to deal with. I got a fair price on my trade in and got a good deal on the car I purchased. i was looking for a low miles corolla and found one in their inventory. AJ was not pushy at all, very laid back. I left happy with my purchase and would definately buy from this guy again. See you there
I'm by nature hesitant to make large purchases where I have to deal with sales people who can be pushy and make you feel rushed. Buying a car from a dealer certainly falls in this category. I am also not likely to post a review on Yelp since I'm generally too busy and don't take the time to do so. In this case I feel inspired and somewhat ethically obliged after my awesome experience with A.J. at Longhorn Sports Imports to write my first Yelp post. I see here that I am not alone in my experience.
My wife and I've been looking for a car for over two months and frankly at the end of our rope with the hunt for a reasonable deal. Finally we came across a Craig's List posting that we couldn't pass on (below Blue Book) and I called A.J. From this point on my search was effectively over and I felt good about just about everything that followed. Below is a simplified point by point sequential accounting of my experience.
1) I visited the lot on a hot afternoon, not in the best mood to buy a car. I certainly went in doubtful that I'd walk away happy. I met A.J. and told him I wanted to test drive the C.L. posted car. I got no pushy sales tactics, just the key. I drove the car for a few minutes to convince myself that the car was reasonable and then went to talk with him.
2) Apparently there was an error in the C.L add. An assistant had posted it $500 below his intended asking price. I became a little skeptical at this point - thinking it might be a ploy of some sort. After some research, he figured out what had happened, explained it and he agreed to honor the C.L price. $500 below his intended asking price and well below Blue Book.
3) Then next morning, after meeting with my wife, I drove to his lot and agreed to buy the car pending an inspection - I gave him a $500 deposit. I paid for the inspection and A.J. drove it over, saving me the time.
4) There were a number of minor problems with the car and he agreed to fix them all including break problems that he had fixed at a local Honda Dealership. It was not cheap. It took a while, since there were problems with the diagnosis and he ended up paying for unnecessary work. He called me when it was done.
6) I picked it up. It wasn't cleaned and detailed when I first test drove it, but now it was and it looked great (better than when I agreed to buy it). The replaced parts were in the back of the car and he had receipts for all new parts and work done. He gave me two programed keys (one he just bought new). I was very impressed.
7) Slight snafu when I got home. I realized that there was no inspection sticker as he said it would. I called A.J. and apparently the repair shop he used thought he wanted a used car inspection not a state inspection. The next day he picked the car up at my house and took care of it and registration to boot.
I hope I'm not jumping the gun by posting this after only having the car for only 3 days. If I have major problems I'll post again. I really am not sure if he made money on this deal and I can only hope by posting here that I drive some business to him. I have no significant complaints about A.J. and honestly feel that he is the best car dealer I have ever dealt with. He seems a little over-worked perhaps; always getting calls on his cell phone, always a bit in a rush, and some things listed above took longer than ideal. He was looking for a new runner at the time of my purchase. His one-room windowless car lot shack could stand some improvement, but I guess that's how he keeps prices down.
Next time I buy a car I will go straight to A.J. and skip the hassle!
Good Car Buying experience.
You never know what you are going to get when you purchase a used car. It can be a scary experience for the uninitiated. The guy at Longhorn Sport import made it easier and less traumatic.
I stumbled upon their ad for the SUV that I was looking for on Craigslist. They had it listed about 2,500 dollars cheaper than anywhere else.
I went over there on a Saturday afternoon the check it out. The cars that they had is stock were quite impressive. No junkers to be seen. The vehicle that I looked at seemed to be in great shape. They told me that every car that they purchase goes through a third party inspection. I asked if I could take the car to my mechanic and they said it was fine to do so. My Mechanic checked the car thoroughly and gave me a report that indicated a few minor issues. I also checked Car Fax report and decided to buy it. They gave me a decent deal on the vehicle, and they gave me a nice trade in on my rust bucket, Altima that doesnt run.
If you are looking for a decent price on a used car, I would add this place to your places to look. The owner and the sales people were easy to deal with and the selection of cars is pretty good.
Great Service, Decent Prices. Got my 2009 Civic Si from this small dealership last month. Got great price and service. Highly recommended.
Longhorn Sport Imports. I had a clean Air Voucher that was just about to expire in 2 days and AJ helped me getting into a car by using that voucher and save $3k. I just dropped off my old Dodge at his lot and came back home in a 2009 Camry in 2 hours after test driving my new car and signing a couple of papers. The rating is 4 stars because he does NOT negociate the price like Other dealers do in the market although I agree that he already offers lower prices for his cars. He took $200 off the price and thats about it. I thought I might be able to lower at least $1000 before I went to this car lot but he would rather lose a customer than lower the ticketed price. Also, He always picks up his phone even after you buy a car and have questions. Overall the whole experience was good.
Great selection of honda and toyota cars. I went to this place and bought a car for my daugther. The place only had toyotas and hondas, all late model and very nice cars. Prices are very competitive too and I didnt have to deal with bunch of pushy sales people. AJ replaced the front two tires and provided us with 2 extra keys and floor mats included in the price. My daughter loves her new car and AJ deserves a review!
We didn't know where to start. We had certain criteria. We have a couple of kids, and wanted an SUV that could carry our young girls and their friends and equipment to games and sporting events. I told AJ that I was looking at a Toyota or Honda SUV. AJ told me about the positives and negatives of the Pilot and Highlander. He told me to check out a sequoia which frankly would never have been on our rader. I checked out all the reviews and we did a test drive and we were really impressed.
Than I looked on line for this vehicle. AJ was able to find one in with about twenty thousand less miles costing about three thousand dollars less than those advertised on line.
Frankly, the guy is a magician! He was responsive, professional and wonderful through the process, and he saved us money, and helped us buy a much better car. He knows his cars. He knows the industry.
I freaking hate car buying. I hate being looked at as if I have no idea how a car and its parts work. I obviously dont like being told that I'm getting an awesome deal on a piece of crap!!
This was a totally different experience. It was laid back and relaxed. From the time we entered the dealership until we left we were treated professionally and courteously. All of our questions were answered in a prompt and straightforward manner. We came in with our own financing and they took care of the rest of paperwork. Also, My trade-in was fairly valued and they gave me a good price. RUN, DONT WALK!!
