Avoid Armstrong Moving & Storage and United Van Lines. Armstrong Moving & Storage, a United Van Lines Agent (headquarters in Austin, Texas ; locations nationwide) handled our move from Northern Colorado to Kansas City on behalf of United. Our move also required 1 month of storage while we awaited our new home. Storage was to be provided by Armstrong in Colorado.

The pickup seemed routine. We posted a family checker at the truck to check off items as they were loaded. When they finally delivered our things, only half arrived. They couldn't tell us when the rest would come. We were told it could be 2-4 weeks. We had no bed frames and other essential items. After angry calls, the second load was delivered by truck on a Sunday morning days after it was due.

Much of the furniture was left in the driveway and Garage

All bed hardware was lost, no reassembly completed.

Almost 10% of our load was lost; theft of family heirlooms and expensive items (electronics, cameras, silverware, china and small appliances)

$13,000 in acknowledged damage to property incluing expensive furniture. We believe they dropped a pallette in storage

Inventory improperly labled, hindering claim

Rodent infestaton in couch

Slow settlement (10 months of heartache) but we settled for $47,000

Armstrong was totally unresponsive. Their Northern Colorado manager was rude and unconcerned. and eventually told us to work directly with United Van Lines and that they were no longer going to intervene.

I will avoid Armstrong and United in the future and forewarn anybody else who is moving house: carefully read the contract, keep ALL your records, keep detailed notes of telephone and in-person conversations including names, dates and times, closely check box labels and inventory sheets for proper content descriptions, inventory in and out make sure that you get the delivery drivers to document and sign for shortages and visible damage and take out full insurance. And if you don't get satisfaction, there are attorneys who will make them squeal.

Avoid this company. If you can, avoid using this company! I did a corporate move and Armstrong moving was the local movers for me. They took 12 hours to pack up a small 1 bedroom apartment. They through my sofa over the railing on the third floor with nothing more than a thin rope, the sofa nearly took out the second story window. During which time they were saying I have insurance right? They were incredibly lazy in the packing of house hold goods. I had a bookshelf that easily dissembles in 5 minutes. Instead of taking it apart, as I suggested, they hauled it away in one piece. Of course when they unpacked the truck the bookshelf was totally busted. In fact when the unloading crew opens the van they found paintings that had not been boxed, busted lamp. The sofa was not wrapped but just lining on the dirty floor, the sofa now needs to be cleaned. They broke several dishes and broke a dresser.

I understand accidents happen, but when you are paying thousands of dollars for ?professional movers? it really makes me upset to see them not even attempt to make sure my stuff gets to the new house in one place. On top of all this, their office staff does not even care to return phone calls. In short, you would be much better off with someone else for your movers. Then again if you need to have some things broken this is a great pick!

Avoid this company. Lack of responsibility reflects poor business practices.. They outsource moving like any other movers. They knocked down my mailbox while moving my neighbor's daughter. Repeated attempts to contact and resolve this issue have been stonewalled. Their truck left paint on my mailbox, and I live in an out of the way secluded cove/cul-de-sac. They claim their driver said it was a DHL truck. DHL had no deliveries to the 3 houses in the cove. (passing the buck). I set up a time to see their truck, they missed the appointment time. They were supposed to send someone out, they never contacted me. Customer service is horrible and return calls are not answered. Look at the local business review (this website won't let me use the three acronym letters for some reason) where they they claim to be a member and you'll see that they have not adequately answered the last 3 problems filed with them in the last few years.

Roll the dice when doing business with this company. If they treat their customers like they treat responsibility...you'll be in a for a doozy.
