Gay and Travis were great to work with! We were pretty "picky" clients, having had 3 or 4 different architects come to the house and pitch their "vision" for our backyard remodel project. Without exception, the prospective candidates could not clearly describe a plan for our space that we felt excited about that addressed our desire to reduce our water footprint while creating a backyard environment that would be attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and the like. Gay was able to immediately communicate the potential she saw and the results she would seek if hired at our very first visit. A "perfect" plan that blows the budget didn't work for us and we especially appreciated her ability to take existing plants not doing well in other areas of our yard and "re-purpose" them into her plan at better locations, saving us $$$ for other things! Great folks and honest businesspersons! Two thumbs up!

Best Tex Gardens is the best! The owners take pride in creating the best landscaping plan for your property by talking to you and walking your areas. They are very knowledgeable about hardscape options and native plants/best plants for the Austin area. We were so please with all their ideas and implementation of the plan - a beautiful living space for our family! Thanks Gay and Travis and all their team!

Gay helped my neighbor and I plan a new flower bed and rennovate an existing one at our townhouses. We were on a budget so she used plants we already had and she gave us a timeline of items we could add periodically.

It's been over a year now and we LOVE the view out our front windows!

I highly reccommend Best Tex Gardens for garden design and support for do-it-yourselfers.

Awesome landscape and great to work with!. I recently worked with Gay and Travis to landscape my front yard and had such a great experience and love the results. I would highly recommend Best Tex Gardens to everyone - they do great work, really care about what they do, and are great people to work with.

I met with Gay to talk about the design. She started by asking me questions about what I liked, didn't like, what I wanted out of the yard, and asked me to give her pictures of designs I liked. After about 10 minutes of talking, she summarized my style and what I was looking for exactly. I couldn't have said what I wanted, but as soon as she said it, I realized that was exactly what I wanted. From there she started her creative process and started talking about ideas for the design - and it was better than anything I could have imagined. I had a yard with a slope that made it difficult to grow anything. Gay came up with a solution that not only fixed the problem but used the slope to add a feature to the yard. Gay is great in that she is able to take your input and then use it to create the design you wanted but didn't know how to do on your own.

Gay and Travis then took that design and implemented it - perfectly! I've worked with other contractors where I felt like I had to manage them or the process - not the case with Best Tex Gardens. I felt like I could completely trust them to take care of everything - and they did. The communicated the plans up front and then did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it.

It has been about a month since the yard was completed and the plants are doing great and I have had so many compliments from neighbors on the yard. Eveeyone who walks by comments on how great it looks.

I've got a backyard I plan to do down the road and will definitely be asking Gay and Travis to help with it - and can't wait to see what Gay will come up with.

I love my yard - it makes me smile every time I pull up to the house. I also really appreciated how professional Gay and Travis were, how easy they were to work with, and what nice people they were to work with.

Perfect Landscaping Advice. Working with Gay was a wonderful experience. We recently moved to a new home with a lot of natural rock ground surfaces and rugged landscaping in the back. I fully expected someone to come in and recommend putting down sod and planting new grass over everything (expensive). Instead, Gay started by asking me what we wanted out of the space and what we liked. Then we tried to brainstorm ideas that would work with our budget. She suggested ways to work with the natural surroundings. We ended up with wonderful ideas I never would have thought of (putting a firepit and natural rock seating in an area where the ground was natural stone -- with ground cover, creating a border for a flower bed of trees and using it as a separation between a natural grassy area and the rocky area, and in a third area of sloped landscape at the very back of our property, we planted wildflowers and bluebonnets!) -- I am so excited to see how the yard and new direction matures. She really knows which plants should go where as well. I was very pleased with her creativity and attention to my desires. And she made me feel at ease when my knowledge was clearly lacking in certain areas. She's a great teacher.

Icing on the Cake. I called Gay in at the 11th hour to put together a beautification plan for my yard in preparation for my parents' 50 Anniversary celebration and renewal of vows. I had a limited budget and a limited amount of time to accomplish it. Gay had an ability to clearly build on what was already present and give clear suggestions and ideas on what COULD be done in an immediate and cumulative plan. She took a difficult project and knocked it out of the park for us. We had a beautiful outdoor celebration that will last in our memories for years to come. She went above and beyond. I would recommend her for any landscaping project. She's knowledgeable and a visionary.

Best landscape designer -- love my yard!!. 12-6-10

Gay did an outstanding job of assessing our landscape and her recommendations were right on target with our goal of low maintainace and low water usage.

She worked with our existing plantings and designed the beds so that they would be pleasing year around. Gay was great to work within our budget and had suggestions for acquiring plants at reasonalble prices.

We have had a full season and the beds in front have given me color all year even in August. She has came back several times to help with specific issues such as triming which has been great. Highly recommend for the do it yourselfer or not . jnold
