Tips for The Highball

Karaoke rooms are not handicap-accessible. If you or any of your friends has a physical disability, be forewarned that most of the Highball's karaoke rooms are not handicap-accessible. Except for a couple of very small rooms on the ground floor, the karaoke rooms are upstairs, with no elevator or any alternative means of reaching them. I was surprised that this was even possible, post-ADA. My disabled friend was unable to attend my birthday celebration because she couldn't climb the stairs to the karaoke room we had reserved. The staff was very apologetic, and gave us a free bottle of champagne, but it didn't really make up for having my friend turned away. The manager said they will update their website to make clear which rooms are and are not accessible. For that, I'm giving two stars instead of only one.

Lots Of Fun!. This is a great place to do something different with co-workers, family or your friends! First we had appetizers and drinks while bowling which was fun. After this, we went to one of the private Karaoke rooms and had a great time singing! They have a list of over 17,000 songs to choose from! I will be back for sure!

I'm a Karaoke Singing, Bowling Fool!. I went for my office Christmas Party and had a blast! The private rooms for Karaoke are the best! You can sing your heart out in the company of friends and not have to worry about a crowd staring at you. While you are singing you get your own personal waiter that comes by and checks to see if anyone needs more drinks. You know so that you sound even better :). Also, the bowling can't be beat. Make sure you get their early and get your own private lane with bar and food service delivered right to your lane. This place is awesome DEFINATELY going back and bringing everyone that visits me in Austin from now on. So glad that the Highball landed in Austin. Good Times, Good Times!

we had a ball at the highball. We went to the Highball for a work party and had a fun night. Seems like there's always something fun going on every night of the week in Austin but very few places that seem to have it all - whether you're looking for some good (and unique) drinks, or in the mood to do some good old fashion bowling, you will surely dig this place.

New local fave. I went to a friend's 30th birthday party at The Highball on Saturday night and we had a blast. This is definitely a great date spot or a fun place to go with a group of people. The atmosphere is really fun and there was a really good crowd. It was a nice escape from the regular downtown scene. It was also great because there was something for everyone - bowling, karaoke, a big dance floor...We had so much fun. Definitely put this on your to-do list of places to try over the holidays.

Classy Austin hangout. A splendidly swanky hangout spot featuring old school glamour decor tied with bowling, asian style karaoke, and a fully equipped dance floor with a stage that is already becoming tainted with the usual hijinx of the drafthouse crew. The only complaint is that food and drinks are on the pricey side. Definitely get your drink on before heading to the highball

A bowling alley, lounge and dance bar wrapped into one.. The former Salvation Army location has been home to successful parties thrown by the Alamo Drafthouse in the past, so when the idea struck to buy the place and convert it to a cool lounge, Austin collectively held its breath. The faithful and patient have been rewarded with a cool, black-red-and-gold-colored lounge complete with a long, seductively curved bar, which is flanked on either side by a fistful of bowling lanes and a kaleidiscopically lit dance floor. Private karaoke rooms are creatively themed, and have poles installed on which to swing. The cocktails and food are lovingly prepared, all with the vintage, old-school vibe that this ace place has in spades.
