One of the best patios in town, just across the street from Austin Music Hall.
Delish Upscale Mexican. I eat at Garrido's almost weekly. Sunday brunch is my favorite- $2.00 mimosas and $2.00 off appetizers? Yes, please. Service is always great there. One Sunday in particular, was just perfection. I'm sensitive to spicy food, and our waiter brought out a sampling of all the salsas/sauces they use, so that I could try them. Their habanero aioli is wonderful- more flavorful than spicy. I'm not limited to the lamb sausage omelette anymore! (which, btw, is amazing). We had a party of 7, plus a dog, and the staff brought out extra tables, chairs, and umbrellas so we'd all be comfortable. Really nice folks.…
New Downtown Food Find. I went to Garrido's on Friday night with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. We sat indoors - although the outdoor patio area looked beautiful so I can't wait to go back and eat outside. The restaurant had a good energy and buzz. Lots of 20 & 30somethings out for date night and large groups like ours. I would describe the food and atmosphere as upscale, trendy Mexican/Latin cuisine. While they charge you for chips and salsa, the chips were delicious - not those flimsy ones that taste out of a bag. Plus, they serve warm salsa which I love. I split the shrimp tacos with mango salsa and was very happy with my choice. What really sealed the deal for me were the frozen margaritas. Garrido's were perfect - not too limey, not too sweet, and just the right amount of tequila. Two thumbs way up!…
The very best food with good service!!!. Chef Garrido has done it again! This jewel has superior food that is reasonably priced--think I'll go tonight!!
Citysearch Editorial Review. One may recall what Chef David Garrido had done for sophisticated tastebuds at award-winning Jeffrey's. Now neatly tucked away where the base of the 360 condos meets the cul-de-sac of the Austin Music Hall is his latest culinary endeavor and namesake, Garrido's. Blending the definitive lines between unpretentious casual dining and Downtown chic cuisine, this stylized Mexican- restaurant offers up many opportunities to experience flavors that Garrido saw fit and necessary for his dishes, yet are unexpected but greatly appreciated by patrons. The elongated outdoor dining porch overlooking Shoal Creek complements pleasant weather tremendously, so opt for al fresco whenever possible. Crack open the menu to find a divine arrangement of familiar foods with added twists, such as gulf crab guacamole, lamb pops with plantain chips, coffee-marinated rib-eye steak, and oyster tostadas served on yucca root chips. And as if that wasn't enough to ensure repeated visits, Garrido's offers irresistible happy hour and brunch specials that are worth the hassle of finding parking in the area,…
