Great place in Austin for authentic Mexican food

by jsandovalx051968 at Citysearch

Our favorite place in Austin for Dinner or Lunch. They have great atmosphere, and good authentic Mexican food.

All our friends and co-workers have been impressed with the great taste of the food and presentations of their dishes.

Lunch prices are great.

Dulces "the art of deception"

by holly Chard at Citysearch

Dear Cedar park dinners, here is my honest take on Dulces restaurant based on my 15 years of experience on the food and beverage industry:

Dulces is a cheap Mexican Version of the well known P.F. Changs in the arboretum, from the napkins, plates, booths, stools you named its all there even the prices are similar therefore I just cant give them any credit for originality in fact I consider that a lack of personal taste considering that a real mexican concept has so much to choose from instead of copycat the chain restaurant.

In regards to food The menu has very little options and also lacks originality 2 soups,1 salad 1 dressing,Beef and chiken fajitas,4 desserts.

etc not much to choose from.and comparatively speaking they are so many restaurants near by that offer better options and better prices like Texican,Vivos,Serranos,Fridas etc.

Service was probably the best part of our dinning exerience we were always well taking care of. our glasses were always full table clean but the only thing that I found kind of intrusive is the constant staring of an older lady that appear to be the manager she also stop by our table 3 times to make sure we were doing okay it seem to me like they are overdoing it when it comes to table checking.unless you have trainees waiting tables.

Sadly this seem like a restaurant that is not going to make the cut, location is very odd, ownership has no creativity and food is nothing to brag about .

Excellent Enchiladas

by Jesse5050 at Citysearch

Went there a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend. I had an upset stomach so I didn't feel much like eating. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and I had the Roasted corn and zucchini soup. She had the chicken enchiladas. The guac was very good and the serving was enough for 2 people. My soup was outstanding and very tasty. She raved about her enchiladas and she knows mexican food. We went again this weekend, again on a Friday around 7pm. No wait for a table. I had the chicken and spinach enchiladas and she had her favorite chicken enchiladas. Two different sauces, both were good but mine was great! Best enchiladas I've had in Austin so far. With 2 drinks, soup and guac appetizer, 2 entrees, it came to about $50 bucks. It is now our favorite mexican food place for the weekend

** update- We have been back several times and every one we have introduced to the place loves it. The art work is from an original artist in Mexico City. One of my friends recognized the work and confirmed it. So I don't get the comparison to PF Chang at all. I like PF Chang but they are two different experiences. **update** I had the T-Bone and smoked/grilled vegetables recently while on a low carb diet and was pleasantly surprised at how well it was preparded.

Apparently some people are confused with interior Mexican food and tex mex based on some comments. I challenge anyone to try this place and honestly say they weren't happy with any selection from the menu.

  • Pros: Great food, no wait

Avant-garde Mexican

by Wando at Citysearch

The artwork and decor is very interesting, even silverware picks up swirl pattern from booth fabric. The service was outstanding. The 3 dipping sauses with tortilla chips were all distinctive and tasty. We enjoyed the margaritas and enchiladas. Our good experience is result of the management's attention to detail in all areas.

  • Pros: Delicious food with unique spices; Rich ambience
