What Our Expert Scouts Say

December 17, 2012

"Planet" isn't a hyperbole here -- there are nearly 50 flavors of yogurt at Yogurt Planet, from Taro (a root vegetable that's become oddly trendy in yogurt shops --nutty and not too sweet) to Chocolate Cherry Cordial (nutty and mind-bogglingly sweet).

Central Austin's Best Fro-Yo. It's ALL fresh here - the yogurt, the toppings, and the decor. This central Austin frozen yogurt shop is fantastic. Brightly yet tastefully decorated, Yogurt Planet is a fun, friendly and happy atmosphere with some of the creamiest and richest yogurt in town. It tastes just like real ice cream! They have a good selection of toppings - from the sweet candy and chocolate to the healthier fruit and granola. Their cheescake flavor is to die for. Try it mixed with their strawberry fro-yo for a twist on the classic strawberry cheesecake dessert.

Yummy Yogurt. This place is pretty neat. They have an impressive variety of frozen yogurts and toppings to choose from. It's self serve and you pay by the ounce, which is great because you have total portion control. But beware, the cups provided are ridiculously large and could easily feed 4-6 people if filled. As for the yogurt itself, the flavors I've tried are good. This is the only place I've ever had frozen yogurt that actually tastes like the stuff I make at home with real yogurt. And they have an abundant supply of toppings, from the typical candy and sprinkles to fresh unsweetened fruit and beyond. My only complaint is that the few tables that they have are very close together and the place was packed at 8:30p on a Tuesday, so I can't imagine what it must be like on weekends/ other peak times.

Family owned frozen yogurt shop located in the Triangle.. In Short
Bright and clean is the name of the game at this Triangle sweet shop, and fans can expect the frozen yogurt flavors to reflect the same standard. A large flat screen TV provides entertainment for the handful of tables scattered through the creamery. Grab a sample-sized cup to try a variety of the 10 flavors in the self-serve dispensers, or find your favorite flavor including traditional tart, low-fat yogurt, mango or green tea. Once the flavor is picked, stp up to the ample toppings bar and choose from fresh-cut fruit, nuts, granola or the more fun-loving sprinkles, candies or chocolate bar toppings. Nutrition facts are listed above each of the yogurt flavors.
