I met Pam Pritchard three years ago during one of Tipsy Texan's cocktail classes, when she handed me her card with a picture of a black and white tiger on the front. "I'm starting a pub, but one where you order cocktails, not just beer," she explained. Just a few months later, I found it on North Loop: The Tigress, a tiny, best-kept-secret of a bar, where each drink costs $7 and packs a mighty punch (just like, I imagine, how a real tigress might). Try Brown Sugar Snow: Rye whiskey, Averna Amaro, lemon juice, and brown sugar syrup.
One bartender taking care of the joint all by herself. Enjoy a cocktail, I had one of the best gimlets ever here. She's working alone so tip accordingly.
Drink. Well. bartender Amber Billiard suggests the Moulin Rose (absinthe, maraschino, watermelon, lime).
The absinthe cocktail is my personal fave. Thought I saw Lord Byron sitting next to me there one night.
Classic movies, classic music, sweet cocktails!
It's always great to be greeted by Sweet Pea, Pam and Giuliana. Wonderful atmosphere.
The funky North Loop Boulevard district is home to one of Austin's tiniest but coziest cocktail joints. A limited selection of classic cocktails are crafted with precision by owner Pam Pritchard.
More people need to know about the Tigress. Or maybe not--that way I can always find a seat in this tiny place.
There is no happy hour, but the drinks are reasonably priced for the quality. Sunday is my favorite day to visit. Cheers!
A very small bar, with a very small menu. Best to be visited during non-peak hours, or in small groups.
