Austin restaurants love to play with high/low elements, and Contigo does it exceptionally. Everyone sits outside, and the atmosphere here feels like a big ranch party. (That's deliberate: Contigo Austin is actually an offshoot of Contigo Ranch.) Dogs accompany patrons, kids climb bench seats and play tag around tables. But the menu appeals to the more sophisticated reaches of your palate, with beautiful Hill Country fare: think rabbit and sage dumplings, duck confit, ox tongue sliders. The drinks menu is also nothin' to shake a stick at (as we say on the ranch), with creative cocktails that help dinner wash down easy: Classic's like the Bee's Knees mix with Contigo originals like the El Pepino, which combines tequila, cucumber water, mint, and lime. And as any 21st century Austinite knows, a drinks menu just isn't complete these days without a Moscow Mule -- never fear, Contigo's got one.

Beautiful date night spot. Perfect for happy hour too. Get the El Pepino (tequila + cucumber water!) and be adventurous with the food! Dessert is always worth it.

This place is awesome. Had the rabbit and dumplings, a growler, and a great time. Everyone else had "the burger" and they loved it. The fried greenbeans were delicious as well. Go eat here.

My friend wanted to check this place out for her birthday so we gave it a shot. First of all, the restaurant itself is super cool. It's all outdoorsey with a huge, gorgeous oak tree and plenty of seating. I've heard the wait to get seated here is insane, but we had a reservation, so we didn't wait very long. The drinks are great! I got the moscow mule, and it definitely comes with a kick. For food, I ordered the burger medium, and it came out super rare (I think it mooed at me). So our gracious server took it back and brought one not so bloody and it was pretty good. I tried my friend's sausage, which was a bacon sausage, and it was also good. The menu is pretty limited, and not much of it appealed to me, so I probably won't be going back for food. But I can definitely see myself going back, maybe with the pup, to enjoy some drinks whenever the weather cools off.

The best patio in town, with local food, friendly service and dangerously good cocktails. Good for groups or a romantic date night for two.
