Andy is a big help! I recently had problem with a car I bought and he's been really helpful, keeping me up to date and letting me know why he's going to do before hand. I would refer him to anyone!
I was referred to Andy at Paladin Automotive by a friend. He is awesome!!! I won't take my car anywhere else! He is honest and trustworthy, and very knowledgeable! I thank my lucky stars that I found a mechanic that I can trust and will take care of my car, and do a great job!
I drive an older kia in which i received several very high estimates.Kia's are notoriously difficult to find parts for but Andy assured me that by allowing a coulple of days for parts deliveries and by doing the much needed repairs in groups that he could do it much cheaper and in less time. I love my car and should have gotten a new one but he was able to fix my windshield, starter, struts, check engine light problems, and cv joints for about $1200 less than I was quoted. Now I recommend Andy to all my friends.
Don't take your car there! Yes this man IS crazy!! Andy will tell you what you want to here, like he did to me. He told me he could beat the competitors price for a factory transmission rebuild, and I ended up spending over $1000 more. Andy wouldn't give me back my car after it had been "fixed" (at this point it had been 2 weeks for a job that should have taken less than four days) until I paid him another mysterious $400, in which I had never seen a bill. He wouldn't let me test drive it until I paid him and I had to call the police. He continued to harrass me via texts antagonizing me to have my friends and family confront him...All in all I ended up having to pay the money so that I could get me car back. He would only take CASH ONLY!!! He also wouldn't let me test drive my car without paying first...I was driving home and heard a grinding noise when I made a hard left turn. I took it in to Mazda and the mechanics quote was $1800..more than half of that price, he said, was due to the "mechanic" who just worked on my car and didn't tighten the wheel bolt (not sure of the exact terminology) , which then wobbled everything and ended up ruining my wheel bearings, ball joints, rotors and break pads..... We're looking at another $600. When I called to confront him he wanted me to bring it back to him! You're absolutely crazy! I've noticed parts that he didn't put back on my car as well. I wonder where these parts are??There are a couple of more recent reviews for Paladin and Andy within the last month or so...those are the ones that really show how Paladin wants to take your money!
Now I find out the the owner, Andy, called my place of business and stated I came up there in a company truck and threatened him and his place of business if I did not get my money, he stated to my work I recieved $280 instead of the $210. He even used fowel language to my place of work when he talked to them. TWICE, lol.
1st, I have no access to a company truck
2nd, we have security cameras to verify this,
3rd, I never threatened him or his building, nor did I use any negitive language, I only told him I would send him to court and get money out of him that way.
4th, my place of work know how I am after 4 years here and I am not that kind of person.
5th, I already had the below statement that matched word for word everything I told them. My work already had a hard copy and did not tell me until I talked to them first.
6th, I notified the BBB about him.
This guy actually lied to my place of work and made false statements to them. If you want to risk it, good luck to you. My impression of this guy is he is CRAZY.
The following is my original statement I posted on 9-11-12
First of all, the only reason people here put posting on here is to recieve the $40 off of labor charge he tells you about. So Don't put to much stock in the recommends. I took my car in for a electrical problem, they had it for 4 hours in evening, they said it was the battery. I told them to change it. I called the next day @ 11am. The mech. had no idea about battery. I told them I already gave ok to change and I needed to know as I have a long trip to make and needed the car. I called later and they said the car was completed. That evening drove to south Texas and it broke down, for an ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. Had to pay for 2 towing and another shop to change alternator. Next mechanic assured me if they checked, they would have seen alternator was bad. The first morning it failed in South Texas, I called Paladin, they said if I buy another battery, just bring them the battery they sold me and I would get my $320 back. I bought another battery on their word. I could have just charged it but that would have taken longer and I needed to try to get it to another shop with out towing. I got back to Austin and took the battery back. He only offered me $120 for the battery. We got into it. He later said he would do me a favor and give me $150 and asked me if I new what giving me $320 would do to his shop. I told him I did not care, I also have a family. I informed him I would take $210 for the battery and I would go and not do any of these letters. I just wanted to recoup some money and said what I had to in order to get something back. He agreed. Of course he only had $204 so that tells me he never had any intension of giving me my money due to the fact I told him I was coming buy there and he never told me anything about it. He never admitted to doing anything wrong even thou it had the same problem on the same day. I should have known, this guy wears cut up wife beater shirts everyday. DO NOT GO THERE. He will talk you into high dollar parts to make more money. DO NOT GO THERE, DO NOT GO THERE, DO NOT GO THERE. He will deny everything he does wrong and blame you.
This was the worst automotive experience in my entire life. I myself am a weekend car mechanic and know enough about cars. I have a Masters degree from UT and consider myself fairly intelligent but couldn't figure out my complex foreign car. I called out for help on Craigslist to find an honest mechanic who could fix my car. Andy from Paladin called and said they could fix it, so I believed it and took a chance and also asked if he could call me before doing any work. I got a call from him AFTER he took the car apart and he wanted to replace the plugs even though they just were replaced 6 months prior, then mentioned cleaning out the engine with foam. It had nothing to do with the main reason I brought the car in for in the first place which was an issue with the cat conv. and sensor. Anyway, cleaning the engine had absolutely no effect and his text on the bill for his work was over $500!! Then when I went to pay the bill it was over $600. He also told me to fix the sensor for the cat was going to take 4 hrs in which he wanted to charge me over $40o but I got it fixed at another honest shop with a great reputation for a quarter of the time and half the price! Andy was not at all helpful and was very stubborn on working with me on lowering the outrageous bill. He didn't replace the cover on the cabin filter so when it rained the inside of the car flooded. He didn't replace the plastic covering on the engine wires and threw them in the trunk along with the air filter cover that he also didn't put back on either! I was so upset and had to call my lawyer who Andy gave her many poor excuses. My lawyer said he was unapologetic and very inflexible and suggested to pay the bill to get my car back but to sue him in small claims court because I had an excellent case against him. Since I am self employed, I decided not to sue due to costing more money just to take time off for court! My advice to you would be to stay as far away from Andy and Paladin Automotive and to take your car to a honest, reputable mechanic who won't rip you off. I will never go back to him and would never recommend my worst enemy to go to this place.
Outstanding Customer Service – Paladin Automotive provided me with quick, friendly, and affordable service. As a female I never feel comfortable that mechanics are telling me the truth, that has all changed. Working with Andy and his Service Manager Rick put my mind at ease. They gave me very fair pricing and took the time to explain each repair needed. Thanks for restoring my faith in mechanics!! I will definitely bring my business back to you and refer family and friends.
FaNtAsTiC Auto Repair Shop!!! – I give Paladin Automotive 5 Super bright, shiny stars!!! Andy is FABULOUS! I had a bad a/c and a brand new baby last summer & Andy took my problem very seriously! He had to go out of town for a family emergency but, very graciously, stopped by a nearby AutoZone & paid for some coolant to hold me over for the few days he was gone. It was the first time I had ever dealt with him so it was a huge deal -- he trusted me, therefore I trusted him. He fixed my car immediately when he got back in town and for super cheap! He really helped me out! Then he worked on my husband's car. He had been out of an a/c for 8+ years because a different body shop quoted us $800! Andy fixed it in about 45 minutes for $75! AMAZING! We never trust anyone else with our cars!
Amazing Service – I had 2002 Ford Explorer Sport that stalled out while driving down the interstate. I spent several months and lots of money on various mechanics charging outrageous diagnostics fees and labor which only resulted in my vehicle not running. I was told it was a blown head gasket, throttle position sensor, camshaft sensor. a distributor and even after all the replacements the vehicle was still not working. I was beginning to give up hope but decided to give it one more try. I searched the yellow pages to find the nearest affordable mechanic, other than the ones I used already . Andy is such an awesome guy. He diagnosed the vehicle to find that it was the catalyst converter. My truck is now up and running. The rates are very affordable.
What a Real Life Saver! – I own a small computer company and my truck is my life, at 4:30 PM while I was leaving a customer site, I noticed a large puddle of water under my truck. I poured some water in it and it just ran out. I called Andy at Paladin Automotive, and he said not to drive it. I had it towed in and it was fixed the very next day! only 4 hours without a vehicle, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg!
