It's a story passed down through generations: Man bites dog, dog is delicious, man continues biting dog. Man Bites Dog is Austin's new hot dog joint that takes hot dogs to a new and cardiovascularly perilous level. Try the Danger Dog – bacon wrapped beef frank, deep-fried with queso fresco, jalapenos and danger sauce – or a classic hot dog with ketchup. Hopefully the restaurant expands – a lot of feline lovers out there are anxious to eat at Man Bites Cat.

Remember when you were 12, and you and your friends dared each other to eat things? ("I'm going to make a magic potion of ketchup, salad dressing, and Coke and will bet you five bucks you can't DRINK IT.") Man Bites Dog is like the grown-up, foodie version of that, with menu items like The Cartoon Dog: It's made with a beef frank, peanut butter, grape jelly and Cap'n Crunch cereal. This all isn't to suggest that owner Jeremiah Allen doesn't have a sophisticated palate (note the classy brioche buns), just a playful one, and my personal favorite is the understated-by-comparison Reuben: It starts with a beef frank base, and is then topped with sauerkraut, swiss, and Thousand Island dressing.

Finally a GOOD place for hot dogs!!. Finally a GOOD place for hot dogs!! And the have the big wieners!!! Not the shriveled up Sonic kind. I wanted to give this joint five stars. The reason I didn't is because I didn't like their corn dogs. They do their own breading and it just didn't work for me.
