Lately, Anderson Road is seeing a lot of Austin restaurants test the waters: Hopdoddy's newest location, The (upcoming) Goodnight, Tarka. Austin's north-central residents and workers have flocked to that last one, and Tarka has not disappointed. The vinyl-boothed atmosphere here give Tarka a franchise-ready feel, though there's no official indication yet that their owners plan to go in that direction. But in keeping with that theme, the menu is similarly Western-accessible Indian fare, with curries, kabobs, and "naaninis" (sauteed meat and veggies wrapped inside warm naan bread) dotting the menu. We like the Dhingri Mattar Paneer, a cheesy mushroom, peas and onion curry mixed with tomato sauce.
